Manual Map Update Issues

I can't seem to update my maps manually. The Download Manager gets an error when it tries to download updates. This is for a 2021 GLS 580.

It looks like the Download Manager is getting an 410 error when trying to download the map file. This URL for North America East Coast updates - https://mapupdate-amap.mercedes-benz...1-ac5fb614a715

410 would indicate that it is trying to download an old file that was once there, but has been intentionally and permanently removed. Which browser did you use to start the download? The manual map update is broken in Chromium browsers, Chrome and New Edge. They are aware of it and a fix is coming. It works with Firefox. I don't have MBUX, so it's different files for COMAND, but I was able to perform the manual update once I used Firefox instead of Chrome and New Edge.

This is the response I got from support:

Thank you for contacting Mercedes me connect regarding the online map update service not working for the Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge browsers. Please be advised that my next tier of support has informed me that they are aware of this issue and there is a fix they plan to implement during their next update to the website.

I've tried Safari (current test), Firefox (on Mac), New Edge on Win10, and Chrome on Win10 to no avail. I haven't tried Firefox on Win10.

Based on the debug, I'm assuming that the target file for download is being passed as a parameter from the me.mercedes site. Would another browser change the target file?

Not sure, but if the site is malfunctioning it might pass the wrong target file. One that's old and has been removed.

Just.a quick update. It seems that it takes a bit for the vehicle and user registration to move their the MB backend systems. The automatic map updates have started and I was able to download the manual map updates to a USB drive. The solution was apparently patience...

How long did you have to wait ? I've had my GLS for over 2 weeks now and am still getting errors when I try to use the map update in the portal (I have trired Firefox as well given there was some history with Chrome and Edge - but same result).

it did take 2-3 weeks to sort out. Way too long in my opinion but it’s clear that it takes awhile for their systems to fully populate the information. Once their systems are updated, the errors will go away but give it another week.
