No updates yet and can’t reach him at the moment. I would be really disappointed to have to wait another 3-4 months if they put in a new order.

i emailed my sales person, and asked him,

1) Is my current order still active or are you saying mbusa cancelled it? // the answer from sales is it is still active but MBUSA is putting in an additional order on behalf of me incase my current car order is just stuck forever.
2) what is the production date for this 2022? // no answer on this
3) is this 2022 order same config/price as the 2021? // answer is yes.

other sales people are telling me they are taking pre orders on 2022 GLS now and most are having a prod date of October. I had asked my sales person this before if i get my vehicle in August/September - will the car be a 2021 or 2022? he said as my car already have a VIN number, it has to be a 2021. I am also thinking, so if i take delivery of a 2021 in Sept AND if they are really shipping out 2022 in October - then wouldnt that be a "loss" to me since its like i am buying last years car?

Crazy market and crazy situations.

Please also keep me posted with your update, i have a feeling that both of our cars are in the same exact situation.

I have asked him if MBUSA placed a new order for me.
He did get back to me on the current status and the latest update as of 7/22 is VPC DELAYED.

Car is at the dealership and I will pick it up Friday. I missed an email over the weekend from my Sales stating that the car had shipped.

all things considered, that wasn't much of a delay as a result of the chip shortage. i ordered towards the end of january and my car showed up mid may, so roughly 3.5 months. that was the timeline my sales assoc gave me from the get go. Dreamzz ordered in march and picking up in august, so 4-5 months, or roughly a month delay as a result of the chip shortage. glad to hear that's it's on its way and hope you enjoy the heck out of it!

Update from my dealer yesterday - Scheduled now 11 August for production. Originally was scheduled to be third decade of September so well ahead of what I was told relative to build schedule. Now whether or not it is released after it is built and has all the parts that is another story.

Picked up the car yesterday. Drove about 70 odd miles.
I was lucky that my dealer honored by MB control number from a close friend even in this market. This is my 3rd purchase with them and it has always been an MB Deal. Made sure my sales advisor is happy and treated him with a nice Cognac XO.

Love the color (Emerald Green), I had seen it on one GLS in the showroom and was not able to see it in good sunlight. However I went on gut feel after seeing pictures from one of the forum members GLS 63.
Ride is amazing, especially since I have been driving my wife's model Y for the last few months.
Acoustic package makes a huge difference and especially helps with the Burmester 3D.
Curve handling is great with the EActive compared to my 2018 GLS which had the ActiveCurve.
This seats are much more comfortable, especially the headrest in the first and second row. Probably because this is the first time we opted for the multi contour seats.
Took me an hour yesterday night to get everything setup properly, even though I am in IT myself. It takes a while learning what options are available and where within the new MBUX.
So far I am extremely happy with the purchase, just a slight worried seeing all the 48v issues.
My son is going to wash the car and take some pics later today and will post some soon.

As always, thanks to the community here.

Anyone else experiencing these delays or have more info to share?

Exactly the same problem.

Mine ordered early May, same response from the Dealer

I ordered my GLA 250 4matic in March and received word from my SA that it was built on Aug 5th. It’s still hasn’t shipped and I have extended my lease with my current vehicle 3x now with a hopeful delivery date of November. Each month I have to reach out to ask what the current status is. Had anyone else had a wait this long?

Does location matter at all or just an overall delay? SA said they built mine as a 2022 vs 2021 when I ordered. I have the VIN and list sheet if the build. He said there were 2021’s built at the same time and they would not release a 2022 until all 2021’s had been released. Fingers crossed it comes in Nov.

I am in east coast - new york - where are you located?

i ordered 2021 model in Feb2021. Supposed to be build/delivered in June 2021. It was delayed, and in July/August - my SA told me they cancelled my 2021 and put in a 2022 thats targeting October 2022. I havent heard from SA for last 3 weeks as i am not hopeful i will get it.

i also have the VIN number for the 2021 - AND i actually do think my car was delivered, but somehow sold to another customer. (I have no way to proof this) becuase that VIN shows 7 miles on it based on my googling. My SA told me that MB took that car back and they didnt sell it to another customer.

I’m in Minnesota, so location isn’t a factor. We have very similar stories. I asked my SA how they are handling new orders and got “it’s a whole new world” response. I ordered mine in March, my current lease with Lincoln originally set to end on Aug 10. At the time my SA chuckled that I was shopping so early. I had no idea this was how things were, I was just test driving everything I was considering. He said I could write the order that day if I wanted to, so I did. Thankfully I did or I’d be in a major pickle now.

I have called weekly up until last month. My SA seemed irritated that I was calling. Only because Lincoln wants their car and I’ve been lucky that they have worked with me for the last 3 months to extend my current lease until I have a solid date. I’ve had to pull the info from the SA and it’s just weird now.

So you ordered a 2021 or 2022 to begin with?
