Delivery times

ha, it took me a whoppin' 2.5 weeks to log 2k miles. i think we hit 2k on our way down to LA from bay area a couple weeks ago. today was the first time i really laid into it tho. i was taking my 3yo to his afternoon sports class and he looked like he was about to fall asleep so i gave it little extra go at a red light to wake him up. the 450 feels very different from my supercharged 3 liter audi Q5 (which is tuned), but when the boost kicks in, it def moves...for a 5500lb truck! i can only imagine what the 580 feels like with all the additional gobs of power!

Just to provide closure;
GLS450 order 1/16 with projected build June 1st decade
production start 5/27
production complete 6/2
released to carrier 6/3
loaded on rail 6/5
delivered 6/22 in Portland
Does not compare the S-Class, but not too shabby.

Glad you got it in about the same timeframe. Looks great. We lived in Beaverton in the 1990s.
So i leave this thread sadly and join a new one.
Fabulous vehicle, but my GLS 580 with just over 600 miles and 10 days of possession is dead.
Now i will be joining the dreaded 48 volt battery issues threads.
Tow truck takes it away tomorrow.
At least it’s at my home and didn’t occur during a road trip.

ARGH! I am so sorry to hear that. It looks like it was driven fairly well, 600 miles in 10 days, so it is not because it sat in a garage like ours is doing right now. Is it dead dead? Can you give a bit more color, so that I am prepared for what may be down the road for me as well?

Based on my description of the problem to the service manager, there is renegade software that murders the 48 volt battery and some associated components with no warning. Just a big red icon of a battery and message to take to service.
Car does not run.
The battery and something else need to replaced, software issues addressed and this will take around 10 days and they will get right after it once the car is towed in.
Yes i will receive a loaner car.
No, I’m not mad, irritated, aggravated about my friend’s laughter, or concerned about my choice…….yet.

The service manager acknowledged that there is a renegade SW that is harming the components? That sounds a bit odd, as I think there are owners who are not running into these issues at all, and if it was SW causing this problem, then it would be pretty much deterministic and everyone would run into eventually, no?
Would be great to understand what happens in the end. Wish you the best of luck on this. Hopefully you will keep all of us abreast to what happens after this. Hang in there.

At this point, my focus is less on explanation and more on result. I agree that a software deficiency is more likely to cause a blanket issue. Checking back through previous postings on this problem there have been multiple explanations. Common conclusion has been, actually there is no common conclusion. We will see what they say once it’s back at the dealer.

just got the car back from OCDetailing in Fremont, CA, yesterday. 2-step paint correction and opti coat pro plus on the paint. other sealants were applied to windows and trims. I also got the front windshield/front side windows tinted (70%/20%) with 3m crystalline. bring on the sunshine!
