First time ordering one that is built in the US (MY21 GL450). Was notified earlier that it was released to carrier (D50 code) and also marked as wholesaled (F10 code). Does anyone on the forum have experience on how long the shipment would take to get to the west coast? Many thanks in advance.
Same question. My GLS 580 was released to the carrier on May 25. Destination is Puget Sound Washington and my sales guys say week of June 14. Any bets?
Ordered Jan 23rd with a 5 month estimate so no excuse for being impatient. I am anyway.
Well sounds like you waited less, as I ordered it for my wife at the very beginning of January, and was given a slot in the first decade of June. Sounds like your dealer had an earlier build slot than ours. I think I waited less for my S class, but that was 3 years ago...

Thank you. I am assuming that is from the point of departure, which I still could not verify and it could be waiting on the lot for its turn to depart.

SUV's are shipped by rail from Alabama. They are transferred to truck at the railhead for final delivery

yep, that's what my sales associate told me. i ordered my gls450 on january 19th and it arrive on may 11th (picked up on may 14th). the car was shipped by rail and i was told 15-18 days from alabama to bay area. it came a few days quicker than my sales associated anticipated.
Dealer confirmed today that my GLS 580 is ”almost here”. Possibly next Tuesday the 15th but “guaranteed” no later than Friday the 18th.
It’s been wholesaled to the dealer, not sure at what point that occurred.
Salamigs, hope you are getting a similar result.

Exciting! I think I will be a week behind you. Will look for an update next Friday.
Any pictures yet? Did everything go OK with the delivery? No update on ours yet, but it is not like I am expecting to hear anything this week. Hopefully next...
Photos hopefully tomorrow, no delivery or transaction issues or disappointments. Stayed up late last night playing with it.
It’s been a good car week for me. Today I finally got my 1964 Cadillac back from the museum it went on loan to pre-COVID.
Will go back on Saturday for the “tech training”, but have found a lot of similarities to our 18 E class so not a huge learning curve.
Looks like you already have an S class so you’re good shape.
Don’t know why but had a really hard time programming in the gate and garage door buttons. Did get it done.
completeed production 5/21
released to carrier 5/26
arrived Portland 6/11
delivered to dealer and to me 6/15
beat the initial 5 month estimate by one week
either I’m lucky or the horror stories are the exception and not the rule

the rolling code thing was a little tricky with my garage door opener. i didn't think i did it right and then it all of a sudden worked. i must say that the range on this homelink is amazing! i can be turning the corner into our row of home and be 125yds away and the garage will start opening after a single push! on my audi, i seriously have to press it 10x's from just outside the door, and sometimes get so frustrated i pull out my phone to open/close it from the app.

my car beat estimate by a couple weeks too, but given that practically no other cars have really showed up, i think we both may have been a bit lucky.
To return the favor on the statistics for MY21 GLS450 (wife-mobile):
order in 1/16 with projected build June 1st decade
production start 5/27
production complete 6/2
released to carrier 6/3
loaded on rail 6/5
arrived in Portland ??? (ETA 6/25, but based on your experience, may be 3-4 days earlier than that)
Even though it is fully optioned, I do not expect this vehicle to compare in any shape or form to my S560. I do not remember having an issue with the rolling code garage door opener we have and the programming associated with it. I do recall however having the hardest time on the same with my previous vehicle a BMW F10 550i.
that emerald green looks amazing, esp with the night package/black accents! if not for the wife, i may have gone with emerald green myself. alas, we went safe - selenite grey. here are pics from deliver day a month ago.
Both look great. Drive and enjoy in good health.
I really like the green, and I liked it in the show room too, but my wife did not... She instead liked a blue color that is available in the smaller SUVs (GLC, unless my memory is failing me), like a denim blue (cannot remember the exact name, but it was a nice color too). Was not available in GLS, they offered a special order, but it was a wait time that was beyond the model year turn, which was not appealing.
