Should i buy Mercedes Truck as my first luxury SUV

Hello,
I am new to the forum, but been thinking about buying new GLS450 for over a year. Finally, now that there is a GLS with AMG appearance package in the near dealer i am seriously considering to buy one. I have never owned a Mercedes-Benz before, not even any luxury car. This will be my first as i am doing well with my business finally and safe to say i can afford one. However, i am curious about the cost of owning this truck, i wonder how much the regular maintenance, oil change etc. I am sure there are people here who just stepped into the whole luxury car scene recently, and what is your experience?
i am also considering new Lexus LX600, even though the 2 cars are in a different category of usage. Any opinion would be appreciated.
Thank you

Oil changes are in the $200+ range at the dealer. Tires can be expensive because of size.

Read very thoroughly about the 48V system.

Do you plan to own this vehicle long term?

Lexus and Mercedes are at opposite ends of the reliability spectrum.

German cars shouldn't be kept for more than 4-5 years. As long as you stick to that they are great.

This place is a joke.
I would avoid it for at least another year as they are still being towed into dealerships broken down with a few hundred miles on them. The problems range from faulty 48 volt batteries to engine misfires, poor assembly quality and more. A friend of mine who works at a dealership told me they had 3 towed in last week... And 2 driven in. This was a mix of GLE and GLS. Lexus is reliable, Mercedes is not.

plenty of folks here with perfectly fine operating GLSs - we just don't clamor about how well the car drives. this is my first "luxury" SUV and i'm glad i bought it. lots of room, comfortable, an abundance of standard features, seats 6 (with captain's chairs) and gets surprisingly good gas mileage (~21-22 mpg mixed driving). i've done a bunch of road trips in it and it's a fantastic cruiser. the only issue i've had with it so far is the dash cam functionality - it doesn't want to turn on sometimes and i can't figure out why. they reflashed the software and it started working better (still not perfectly), but now it seems to be malfunctioning again. other than that, it's been smooth sailing.
