GLS 450
brake assist

This is the 4th GLS450 I have had. I have always loved driving them. Recently I had a scary issue with Brake assist coming on for no apparent reason other than a bit of snow in the road left by a snow plow. While driving at approximately 40 mph without any cars in front of me my car slammed on the brakes and the seatbelts locked. Fortunately there wasn't a car behind me. It was very scary. My car was reprogrammed after at the dealership and I have since turned off brake assist.

I had the same thing happen to me last fall....Nearly empty road -- no cars in front or behind of me, no cars approaching, and the brake assist slammed on the breaks. The combination of stopping suddenly while driving 30+, having my kids in the car, and seeing the huge red skull and cross bones warning on the HUD scared the **** out of me. I had drive assist engaged. Hasn't happened since, but I'm definitely on my toes any time I move to drive assist.
