Question about closing hatch in cabin

Hi,

I just got my used 2021 Gls450 recently. I found that opening the hatch in cabin is one touch to open but closing is different; I had to holding the button down in order to close hatch. My bother is driving 2013 ML350 and 2017 gls63, they told me their cars are one-touch open and close hatch in cabin. I went to Mercedes dealer and the service advisor told me this HOLDING close hatch button is a new safety feature. I’m wondering is it true? Does anyone out there can close their hatch with one-touch button in cabin? Thank you

My guess is they got hit with a lawsuit or claim for injury, and so made it mandatory to hold down the button.

It took me a while to figure out what you are talking about especially since I've never used that button. Instead of "hatch" call it a tailgate, trunk, boot.
