GLS 580 Order - Questions on options

Hey,

So I put in an order for a GLS 580, I have a PO and production date, it will still be for a MY22 not a 2023 GLS-580. So far these are the main options I've gone with, but I do have some questions since I'm considering a few options I'm unsure of as well.

Emerald Green with Black leather and gray oak
AMC Night Package with 22" (can't get 23, unavailable)
Driver assist
Pano Roof
Heated wheel
Hitch
Heated rear seats

I've read and viewed many opinions E-Active Body Control option, I've even test driven now both with and without and unfortunately with the small 3-4 mile test drives I'm still not conformable either way. The bouncing car trick was cool, for 15 seconds before I started to feel queasy and had to turn it off. it did feel planted in corners but I have a model 3 and 911 turbo speed driving and sports performance, this will be long trips, entire family etc use so I'm wondering I'm already going 580 instead of 450 (which after driving is a substantial difference in acceleration and performance having driven both now, unlike what some people have said online) and I don't do off road driving. Just highway pothole driving. It also seems annoying that every time I get in the car I'd have to turn on curve mode to make use of the feature. Without the option, are you still able to raise/lower the vehicle?

I may end up keeping the car for only a year or a little more so also want to make sure the options I'm selecting allow for highest resale as well, even if its something I don't need if it will retain value in the long run or add value then I'll opt for it now. I appreciate any advice you guys can offer!

Thank you!

Yes, the base airmatic is still height adjustable. E-ABC is super cool and I wouldn't get one without, but it's crazy expensive, so if you aren't interested it's probably not worth it.

I'm unaware of any options that having or not having make a huge difference in resale value, but I don't think shopping for a GLS580 for its resale value makes too much sense. Just get what you want and will be happy to have, enjoy it, and the price is what it is when it comes time to sell.

Probably completely stripped will yield the highest resale return. Options factor in very little to used values. I agree, just get what you want.

I have 2020 GLS580 with eABC.
you don't have to turn the curve mode in order for the car to lean.
in "any" mode, the vehicle still leans up to +/- 5 degrees.

the recovery mode in off-road setting to make the car bounce is totally party trick. hahaha.
you would be better off with tires with less sporty treads than using the bouncy mode to get out of trouble.
with my 23"s with Yoko summer performance naturally is not so good in muds and snows.
still, bouncy mode is pretty cool party trick to show off.

is eABC worth it?
the ride is def somewhat better with eABC. it's not DRASTICALLY better. especially $$$$$$ that much better.
for what MB claims x167 to be, "The S-Class of SUV", eABC suits the theme.
do I think eABC is worth it? I do. the "value proposition" is very personal thing, isn't it?
admittingly, the "bang for the buck" factor is very low.
For me, the cost of eABC for the S-Class of SUV is "worth" it. just my 2 cents. I imagine that the answer will be different from one buyer to another. there's nothing wrong with that.

I agree with DJ and am all for the eABC but it’s worth noting I am a total sucker for car gizmos. I want it mostly because my wife scolds me for going around highway bends/curves to fast and it’s just because the higher center of gravity and flexible suspension makes SUV’s seem like they are going to tip over. The “curve inclination” feature that comes as part of the eABC definitely helps minimize that.

But it’s worth noting that the “curve inclination” feature of the eABC that causes it to lean into curves like a motorcycle is only active in “Curve” mode and not Comfort, Sport, Eco, etc. (see screen shot of user manual). I’m also pretty sure it’s only 3 degrees not 5 but can’t recall.

Joe, Haha, always good to meet another gadget guy.
my GLS580 was the first X167 in Virginia. I had to just jump in with eABC since there were no cars even produced.

and I do know what the manual says. I've seen it in my manual as well.
and I wasn't happy that I couldn't make the CV mode as my default. then about 6 mos into it, someone on this forum pointed out that the leaning feature actually still works in C, I, S or S+ as well.
take a look at the screenshot that I just took.
clearly, I'm in Comfort mode. and it took me a couple tries to get her in right speed/turn to capture the 5% lean.

The picture you are providing is displaying the “Angle of Incline and approach/departure angle.” This is available without e-abc and merely indicating that your GLS is on a surface that is tilted to the left. This is different from the curve inclination.
