Hands free (kick) Trunk Open

Hi, I have been trying to get my trunk open by the kick method and it only seems to work when the car is unlocked. When it is locked and even though I have my key with me, kicking does not open the trunk. Is there a setting somewhere to enable? Thanks!

I had to have my hands-free access module recoded before it’d work reliably, where reliable == 50%.

Locate the sensor and slowly kick under the car.
Wife can't consistently do it while I can 100% of the time.
Is your car a 2010 year? If so be sure to change the key fob batteries!

Trick is the speed at which you do it. Don’t think of it as a (football) kick, think about sticking your foot under the left side of the trunk, wait half a second, remove.

Agreed, you establish a knack - ours works perfectly. I saw it as a bit of a gimmick, and I don’t use it a lot, but when I have my hands full it is actually quite handy. Better that I expected.
