I recently purchased a 2022 GLS 450 that has third row speakers installed but they do not work. I was told by a service advisor that my option package does not include rear speakers. I have the burmester surround sound system which I believe is the only option available.

The website says the 13 speaker burmester system is standard and the Burmester website shows the speakers in the third row so I am a bit puzzled as to why they a) are installed and do not work b) why the service advisor doesn't think they are included.

Any ideas?

A couple of notes:

• There is an advanced optional Burmester system available so there are two different ones
• You do have rear speakers included (as you noted) I think in the 3rd row, the advanced adds a tweeter, possibly and overhead speaker, can't remember over yours, but both have the 3rd row main
• Some Service Advisors seem to make things up when they don't know the answer
• Bermester calls those 3rd row speakers "surround" speakers as opposed to mid/woofer/base. I had guessed it was a marketing thing but it is possible it is only used for the surround mode. I don't recall either way. I would go in and put the sound mode in "surround" and see if you get anything out of those speakers. If not, definitely take it back to the dealer.
