Mercedes-Benz M256 Spark Plug change
Hey guys , hope you can help with this one
my parents cls450 is at 50–k and needs spark plug change , anybody knows instructions for it ?
I’ve changed before on NA 5.0 v8 with 16 parks 2 per cilynder and on my TT 4.6 v8
need info for inline 6 , thanks

As long as the plugs can be accessed, the job is self evident for the moderately DIY-skilled. Releasing the ignition coil connectors is the trickiest job, again assuming in the first instance that the coils and plugs can be accessed without undue pre-disassembly.

in researching this DIY, it seems the M256 has a common issue with the wire harness degrading over time and basically falling apart when you unplug. since i'm still under CPO warranty, i'm just going to have the dealer do it towards the end of my warranty in case it has degraded as they will cover it.
i'm gonna pop off the engine cover to get a look at the condition of the harness soon and will report back if i see any concerns. dealers charging around $1k for spark plug replacement which is ridiculous in my opinion but i don't want to pull it and have the harness fail and be screwed. as far as i can tell, that's one of the only real big pitfalls of the M256 which seems to otherwise be a solid motor
