FYI - here is what the Fitcamx looks like on a GLS. Super easy to do as well. Took maybe 15 minutes. Already needed it too, as a rock from a dumbass contractor’s trailer got the windshield this week. He failed to clean off the debris from his trailer before hitting the road - a no-no, and all on video for the police (and insurance) to see, clear as day in 4k clarity. Love this thing! Going to buy another for my 212 this week too.

I was just going to buy this today. Do you get the rear cam too? Any second thoughts or surprises?

i did not get the rear, just the front. It was simple to do, and didn’t want to mess with the wiring to the rear. If in a dispute, the front will show the movement of the car in general (say someone rear ends you but says you backed into them). Basically, your fault will be in front of you.

0% regrets, and buying one for the old 212 I’ve got too. So simple!

I have the front and rear. I had Best Buy do the rear install since it required pulling apart the lift gate panels which went beyond my scope, but they did a nice job on the install in about an hour. Works great as the poster says. And I even tested it by bumping the car when off and it did capture a recording after the bumping event, so it appears that it allows the wake on event recording mode. Downside is the software leaves a lot to be desired since you cannot adjust the resolutions and it is slow to load, at least on the Android version of the app I use.

I'm curious what Best Buy charged. I talked to two high quality local installers and the first was $200/hr, the second was $150/hr. Seems like a lot, but everything does these days.

They have listed prices for installs, but to install my rear camera and run a 12V constant power source from rear of vehicle to front mirror for radar detector, I paid $149. Because I had already run the power/signal cable for the rear camera, my job was not a straight full install. Note that there is no constant power source for tapping at the front since the power are all PWM which my Valentine 1 was not compatible with.

I did get a quote from an installer that was more than Best Buy, but he was super nice and said he was booked anyway and referred me to his buddy at Best Buy with the instructions about the PWM power.
