I called my dealer to see about when will allocations be open for the GLS 580 and he told me the GLS 580 is no more as of 2024. Only GLS 450, 63, and Maybach. Damn that sucks. They are charging 10K over MSRP for a 2023. No thank you!
Uhhhhh... Mercedes USA just announced the 2024 changes in a press release 3 weeks ago and they specifically mentioned the 580 multiple times in the release. So, one of three things is happening:
1 - Despite the Press release specifically mentioning the GLS 580, Mercedes has changed their minds in the last 3 weeks and isn't releasing it
2 - Your dealer is an idiot
3 - Your dealer is a liar
I'm guessing some combination of #2 and #3.
The 580 is not available to order yet, but according to MB-USA it will be.

Multiple dealers have told me the same thing. We will see what happens in a few months.
Yeah, I see no reason to believe as of now that the GLS580 isn't coming in 2024. I will wait to see something official, but as of now it just seems like it's delayed.
What 2023 580 inventory? Plenty of 450's around, but very very few 580's anywhere. I just went through all this crap with Range Rover (now called JLR) hope it isn't happening to MB as well.
It amazes me that salesmen still pull this kind of BS in the internet age. I guess there are always those few suckers out there that don't do basic research.
Its frustrating to me when I always know more about the car than the dealer.
This same submission to the EPA certification also lists the V167 350 2WD and 4WD for submission and it's already been confirmed the rear wheel drive is not going to be offered for sale. So this document cant be an example of definitive truth. I suppose time will tell but my no more V8 sentiment is only getting stronger and stronger. I think this is the slow death of it. MBUSA has the DOG out for the 6's the AMG version of the same 8 and the Maybach which coincidently is the same engine as the 580 offering. There is no valid reason for the 580 to not be in the V167 and X167 DOG short of its not going to be an offering. I too have had conversation with dealers that have basically said it's dead. They are not trying to put me in something else cause I am already own a 580 so there is no reason to attempt to pull the wool over my eyes. Like I said time will tell but it appears to be discontinued

It was announced this month and there has been nothing to indicate anything has changed. Despite what dealers would have you believe they don't get any inside information. And if they did there are multiple people here who work for MB dealers. Ask your dealer if he knows so much how come he didn't know about the facelift before it was announced.
