I was looking into the Mercedes Me app and I noticed in the hamburger menu a new tab that says MBUX Beta Program I opted in and the only feature they have available is the ChatGPT to use with MBUX which is absolutely amazing. I haven't used it yet and I plan to use it soon, anyone able to use and how to use this feature yet?

UPDATE: I did test it out today and it worked flawlessly, I talked about baking a cake and it provided me a lengthy reply, I asked how long will it take to get from here to here and it also gave detailed information, sometimes even gives a different reply but same answer which is very cool. However this feature is only available for three months which is disappointing from what I've read from the press release website.

There are several threads on this but anyways OP glad to hear you are enjoying it.
Anyone know how long ago was the database last updated?
ChatGPT doesn't know anything that happened/happens after about September 2021. I think it will tell you if you ask it nicely.
I, for one, have been enjoying having a more easy answer to questions the kids throw at me during long car trips. Or random trivia...The usual Hey Mercedes was/is rather useless for anything that didn't involve turning up or down the temperature in a really difficult way.
I take it that ChatGPT is a 3-month trial. I will be sad if it gets killed off!

That explains the Black Widow response but definitely not the "no COVID vaccine" response!

I see, didn't know that... Was there a specific reason why it is outdated?

I don't want to bore with the detail, but, ironically, it doesn't have access to the internet for updated information. It only (thinks it) knows about things that it has been taught and that data ended in 2021. It takes a long time to build this kind of system, so by the time it can be productionized, it's usually out of date.
There are multiple versions of GPT out there from OpenAI group. ChatGPT uses GPT-3, which stopped being trained in Sept 2021, I believe. This is what you get for free. GPT-4 has been trained on more contemporary data and also has the ability to search the Internet for answers. However, this version is not available for free, you have to pay to use it. So Mercedes, at least for this beta, took the cheap/free route.

Hmmm shame Mercedes did that though since didn't they want to be the latest and to be the forefront in technology?

GPT4 is expensive. We have some test accounts at work and it is easy to run up a big bill very quickly. I suspect for an unpaid beta test Mercedes didn’t want to foot the bill for that. Once they perfect it and are ready to go GA, I suspect this will become a paid service and will move to GPT4.

I opted in and tried it out yesterday. Asked Mercedes to explain to me what a CMBS is (Commercial Mortgage Backed Security). Got to say, I was impressed as I was doing errands with the car. As long as it's free, all good. Not something I would pay a monthly fee for though. I don't need THAT much "connectivity" in my life, especially when my phone is sitting right there next to me.

I see, in that case I rather MB offers the service to us for free instead of bundling in to a subscription.

I see, glad the beta is working out for you and for your needs.
I've tried several queries and for some of them I get a response on the MBUX screen that says words to the effect of 'looking for answer, will notify you later.' After a few minutes I need to go into MBUX and look for a message with the results. Are you kidding me? I'm driving and I'm supposed to get a message later? Please.

I was kinda dissapointed by that as well. Also, the only way to get to the response is via the touchscreen in the upper right corner. It's not like I can even use the touchpad (the main or the mini on the steering wheel) to get to that option!
