GLS580 fuel consumption

Hoping those of you that are driving a GLS580 can offer some insight on fuel consumption. I'm especially interested in highway mileage with the vehicle loaded up. Our poor old GL450 is about ready for a rest and I can't find a GLS450 replacement with the options we want, so considering the 580. Any help is appreciated.

I’ve been averaging between 20-21mpg on short road trips of about 70miles mostly highway. The family and I have our 1st true road trip long trip to Fl lined up next week, so can report back.

Gls580 fuel consumption

Does not like short trips. I’m cdn so in litres per 100 km.
lifetime 104000 km got 14.2 l per 100 km
One km trip in am, grocery store, 34 l per 100 km
drove 3900 km home when I got the car, 10.2 l per 100 km
three hour trip to camp, 12 l per 100 km

love the car and bought it for the same reasons as you mentioned, had the options I wanted while the 450 did not.

hope that helps

It does help, although I admit I had to use a conversion chart. Your 3 hour trip equates to 19.6 miles per gallon. Not terrible considering the weight of the vehicle. Did that trip include some stop and go driving, or mainly cruise control on the highway? Thanks

I have had the 580 since June 2020.
Milage now is 42 287 km with a average consumption of 11,4 l / 100km.

Trip to work is about 35-40 km and I often have a consumption below 10l/100km.

So you can have a really low consumption if you want and plan your driving.

Cheers from Sweden

10l/100km calculates to 23.5 mpg. That is as good as I get with a V6 GL450 on the highway. I'd be thrilled with that. Thank you.

This is on par with what I mentioned yesterday. I also forgot we did a 158mi trip and average was between 21-22mpg. Separately, I looked at our trip data for the last 7,900mi and average has been 18.1mpg (most of that inner city, with short high at miles here and there).

we went from a GLE350 to the GLS580 and have been fairly pleased with the mileage. It is a rather large tank, but in my opinion the fuel efficiency is good for a vehicle of its build.

yes I’m on cruise all of the time, lead foot, cruise saves me from talking to po po.

3900 km trip car was new to me, driving cautiously plus 6 hour snow storm kept my speed down therefore mileage up.

three hour trip, one stop to stretch legs, usually not much traffic but on cruise the whole time,

I generally run 20 km over speed limit. Therefore 75 mph. I would get better mileage at 60 mph but I’ll absorb the difference.

One trip to the camp was 14 l per 100 km but I was loaded so probably another 5 - 700 lbs.

75 is a good comparison for me. We usually run 75-80 on the Interstate so that is very helpful, thanks.
