Several days to get routine maintenance done here - and no loaners since the pandemic. I get great service, but it is so inconvenient, I dread going. They can't keep techs, so everyone goes begging, even with an appointment made months in advance.
In the past I've been critical of the dealership that we use for service and repairs of our cars still under warranty. After reading through this I guess I'm getting better service than most. Service A & B can e scheduled usually within a five day period and they get it in and out in a few hours, unless something else pops up that needs to be worked on. I use an independent mechanic on our MB's that are no longer covered by warranty adn the service there is really good. It's hard for me to imagine leaving a daily driver for the time periods mentioned here for routine service.

Yeah no loners I'm not having it done at the dealer lol. Find a good independent mechanic
Another glowing review for the Penske dealerships here in DC. I received my quarterly "we want your car, look at our great offer to our loyal customer to upgrade" letter. This time it was for the GLS. Care to guess what they are willing to give me on it as a gift to use to upgrade to a 2024 model? $34,800. That's nearly $10k below KKB on "good" condition. Care to guess what their 2024 GLS starts at for their loyal customer? $88,750. "Starts" at. If I optioned it to match my current one, I'm at $100k+. What a joke. Who on earth approved of such a letter at that dealership? If I do a basic search on cars.com for a 2020 with 62k miles in my area, I'm in the $50's. UP TO $34.8k trade? Give me a break....
If the dealer finds a baby, and takes its candy away, the scummy dealer has achieved its objective. Don't be the baby.
Average MY20 GLS450 prices on cargurus are in the mid-$60s.
Dealer buys your GLS for $35k, flips it for $65k, sells you a new GLS for $100k, and you put $65k of new money into the deal. Easy. Dealer wins, consumer...well...takes it in the shorts.

Got the same email, albeit with a higher trade amount for my GLS580. I responded to say I was interested in the AMG63 and have heard nothing back. I'm sure these letters are all generated by an algorithm and there is no human involved in sending or receiving them. The sales manager at Tyson's was the salesperson who sold me my GLS580 but he is now too busy to respond to email.

Don't laugh but these lower offer prices could be in response to the tumbling used car market (KBB and similar sites are understandably lagging in their car values compared to live market pricing).
I think the used car price peak is long behind us and falling even further.

They are certainly a "corp" sales campaign letter for sure. I get them from where I bought my w212 and I get them from where I bought the GLS. Two different dealerships not owned by the same company. Yet, the letters are identical in wording except for the $ amounts and the address of the dealership. Word for word, boilerplate identical. It's funny, I always get a higher number from the one I bought the 212 from (Bethesda) than I do for the GLS (Chantilly).
I buy these cars to keep for a long time, so these lowball offers really mean nothing to me. I have no intention to sell until they are past their standard depreciation cycle of 7 years, and even then it's just a consideration idea if needed (thankfully not needed so far). I got out of the car buying habit about 8 years ago. I've only bought two cars since 2015, and both happened to be Mercedes... The 8 years prior to that point (07-15), I bought 8 cars.
Unless if it's a unique car (like a Jeep Wrangler) or that ultimate ego scratch (Porsche), I suspect I'll stick with Benz for a long time. Seems to be the one brand that I truly do enjoy across the board. And honestly if I were ever to get to that point of being able to buy that teenage wall art Porsche, I think I'd rather have an SL now a days anyways.

My how things change. Just tried to schedule a B service for our 22 GLS450 at the usual place. Earliest date showing online is 12/7/23. Hard to imagine they can be that backed up. Going to call tomorrow just to make sure I didn't do something wrong.

If you've been following the "What is going on with MB?" thread, then you know these are not the best times to drive a Mercedes. It was a veritable triage when I dropped off my car in the morning a couple weeks ago. Even if you're not driving a GLC w/issues, your ability to get a loaner GLC will be confounded by same said issues!

I have been following. We have four, two still under warranty, two are not. I've been using an independent to do the service and repairs on the ones out of warranty. They are great, so I guess I'm going to start using them for routine service also. It is ridiculous that an oil change can't be scheduled closer than a month and a half out. We drive a lot of miles on the daily drivers. If I waited the month and a half and had an engine problem they would probably try to deny warranty work as it was serviced over the 10,000 mile mark. We are a bit remote so I don't have several dealers to choose from. The closest is an hour and a half away. The next are over two hours. Like everyone else we can't get parts for the cars from the dealer, but somehow an independent can find them for us. In my opinion, the company as a whole has really gone steeply downhill since we bought our first MB. They must be making plenty of money and keeping the BOD happy, as Olaf seems cemented in the head position. We have certainly bought our last one from them, barring some unseen and unimagineable changes.

I think Mercedes is reaching critical mass w/this GLC issue. B/w the GLC and C-Class they probably sell way more of the SUV in the States (and both are gateway vehicles for luxury segment). Without that influx/retention of Millennials, Gen Z, etc., they'll be hard pressed to build that loyal Mercedes base!
They always have loaners in reserve and can move you to the top of the repair queue if they wanted. The managers have discretion for special cases.
Case in point I had to take my brand new $165k AMG in for service on day 3 of ownership. I didn't make an appointment and just brought it in. The service manager came to talk to me and was very accommodating and set me up with a loaner right away. I had the car back the next day.
But you're less likely to get special treatment for a regular maintenance.

Agreed. You are still very much within the "honeymoon" period with your car!
