Cargo Mat options

Picked up a new to us 2021 GLS580 over the weekend and looking at cargo mat options. My go to is usually Weather Tech, but they note that their cargo mats don't fit with the Burmester audio which we do have. Does anyone know what exactly the fitment problem is? Other cargo mat options?

Depends on which Burmester you have. If you have the upgraded 3D version, you don't get a spare tire and this is probably the one that Weather Tech is referring to.

Confirm which Burmester you have and give Weather Tech a call.

Yes it is the upgrade. No spare, amplifier and sub are under the tire fit kit. Weather Tech isn't really helpful. They don't have any knowledge on why it doesn't fit or an option that does fit.

Then the Weather Tech won't work for you!

lol, well that part I had already figured out captain obvious.

Any other suggestions out there? Alternately, anyone that has put the mats in even thought they might not fit perfectly?

I had the same situation with my 2020 GLS w/upgraded Burmester. The cargo trays/mats will "fit." I tried a WeatherTech from a buddy's GLS. I believe MB says no because, as mentioned, there is an amp and subwoofer under the cargo area where the spare would go. I believe it is either a sound blocking issue, or a potential equipment overheating issue with the trays/mats. I ended up getting a cheap Armor All cargo liner for at least some protection when I need it.

Excellent! I did a search and found another cargo mat thread with several options. I should have done that to start but for some reason didn't follow my own usual advice on forums.

Link in case someone else comes across this thread.

Follow up, we ended up with a full set of mats from Tuxmat. Oddly, the cargo mat is only available if you select the 6 seat setup but it fit our 7 seat with premium Burmester audio without any issues.

Is it possible to share a picture of the Tuxmat trunk mat installed?

Did you get something to cover the backs of the 2nd and 3rd-row seats when folded down for cargo?

We don't often carry extra cargo so we just have the short cover. Having the 3rd row down usually leads to groceries migrating all the way to the 2nd row by the time we get home.

So the raised edges fade along the tailgate since it's flat and not recessed there?

It looks like this covers/protects the Chrome load sills, too.

Thank you!

I just tried to order the Tuxmat Trunk mat and it's now sold out. The only option was to sign up to get notified when it is back in stock.

Everything on Amazon seems like junk. 3D Maxpider is 4-6 months from making one for the 2024 GLS.

I have this installed in our GLS. Great fit and second row seats are also covered when folded down.

Thank you. I think that this may be my best option at this point.

Looks like a great option, but also looks like a pain in the *** to unvelcro for cleaning purposes. What's your experience been so far? Probably not something I would need to do frequently since we dont have dogs, but appears far from pulling a hardened tub out giving it the hose, letting it dry and forcing it back into place.

I also have Canvasback for 2024 GLS 63

I don't see why you'd ever unvelcro it but it wouldn't be hard. I have it covering my rear cargo area and 2nd row seat backs. I throw a stroller in the back of car and just vacuum it. It's perfect and looks tasteful. It's better than Weathertech. I actually just ordered panels to cover the sides and they're custom making them and cutting out a spot so I don't cover up the high end Burmester speaker option.
I do use WT for the floor mats.

the mats have laid flatter than in pic because they've been in for a month now.

We had the same product on our Macan. The liner held up well over the 7 years we had the car. But we never used the cargo area for crud and seldom had to remove the liner.

Looks like a quality product!

I need a lip to prevent objects from rolling and falling behind the 2nd row so I ordered something else!

we have the canvasback as well and love it . customer service is also great. i asked them to not make ours with the standard holes where the floor handles and tether anchors are since i don't use them (if i need to access the load floor compartment, i just peel back the velcro to get to it). we prefer the no-hole liner because we get a lot of sand in the trunk on beach days and those areas would get filled with sand. makes it a lot easier to take a brush or towel and sweep sand out of the trunk!

Seems as if covering the subwoofer with a rubber mat and surrendering a bit of audio quality is preferable to your dog peeing on it (lol).

Canvasback question

I have been following this thread with great interest. I have a (hairy) dog that sheds like Pigpen in the Charlie Brown cartoons Looking at the canvasback, but my wife & I have huge concerns with the self adhesive velcro. We are afraid after a few years it will at minimum leave discoloration or may damage the existing carpet, which defeats the purpose of putting the liner in to start with. To those who have had a Canvasback liner, have you removed it to sell or trade the vehicle, and what was your experience? Many thanks!

Not sure if you're still in the market after nobody replied to you. It's just some light weight adhesive tape - I don't see that it would discolor anything unless MAYBE (but doubtful) if you have white carpet.

As an aside, I added even more Canvasback covering. I have the $5k Burmester upgraded stereo with an extra speaker in the back. For free (or maybe a nominal fee, like $15 - don't remember) they made it custom for me where they cut a hole to expose that speaker and they gave me the option of putting a grill over it (which I opted for) or for leaving it as an open hole. It fit perfectly. I just sent them a few measurements and pictures. Great company!
