Is active driver assistant a standard option?
As I'm building out the GLS, I do not see an option for lane keep assist. BMW call this driver assistant package. Does it work pretty well or does it ping pong? I'd love some real life feedbacks from you guys.
I too was debating GLS vs X7. We have a 2014 X5 that has been stellar. Still love that car. Ultimately choose the GLS as the new front end of the X7 was too much for me.

I have the DAP (before it became standard) on my MY23 GLS450 and have not experienced ping ponging. It's probably the best semi-autonomous driving I've ever experienced!
Read up on it a little, seems you can't use it until something like 37 MPH? Which means in a stop and go traffic, it wouldn't follow? So traffic jam assist?
Also you mentioned the trunk, visually the GLS does appear larger but reading somewhere it say the x7 is actually bigger with all 3 rows up.
As far as looks it's subjective, if I was buying it for my wife, the GLS IMO would suite her, she doesn't think so, she thinks the x7 looks better. X7=masculine, GLS=low key, I really wanted to say feminine but didn't want to offend anyone. LOL

"This Benz offers a good amount of cargo space for a luxury large SUV. There is 17.4 cubic feet of room behind the third row. Behind the second row, there's between 42.7 and 48.7 cubic feet, depending on the position of the second-row seats. Folding down both rear rows opens up 84.7 cubic feet of room. "

The X7 just misses 13 ft3 behind the third row!
"The X7 has an average amount of cargo room for the luxury large SUV class, but the cargo capacity behind the third row seats is dismal compared to rivals. The BMW has a scant 12.8 cubic feet of room behind the third row, but this expands to a more respectable 48.6 cubic feet with the third-row seats folded down and 90.4 cubic feet with both rear rows folded. Power-folding second- and third-row seats and a hands-free power liftgate come standard."

Anyone who has ever test driven both cars and inspected the trunks with all rows up knows there's no comparison if you want to fit more than just umbrellas back there!
