2024 GLS 450 Main Screen Went Black
Yesterday, when driving around for errands, the main screen(the one with the speedometer, etc.) on the GLS went black. Its about 3 months old and has 6300 miles. I tried turning off the car and restarting - no luck.
I was able to get in touch with a local dealer, there are only two here in Northern NM, and the service advisor suggested after turning off the car, then locking it and waiting for 5 to 10 minutes. Bingo that worked. He said it was likely a software issue and the car needed to go to “sleep”.
I don’t know about that but it did work.

Cars are more computers than not these days so doing a cold reboot every now and then probably is the answer!

I had the same issue yesterday. Main screen went black after picking up groceries. Drove 5 minutes to my next stop. Locked the car. Main screen seemed to reset itself and was fine afterwards.

So they tell us we don't need buttons....
I'll leave the brand if I have to deal w/a blank screen and can only use voice recognition. Did voice even work when the screen was blank?!!!

I didn't try since only drove a few blocks to my next stop. Heads up display was still working as was Waze on the center screen.

A couple of years ago, my 2022 GLS 450 wouldn't start. Got in, pushed the start button and there was nothing, just plain nothing. Call my dealer and he said the same thing - take all the keys, lock the car, and go away for 30 minutes. That's what I did, and when I came back the car started up just fine and I haven't had a problem since. These computer cars are weird, but I guess we all have to learn to live with them now.

I received a similar black screen last month.
I had started loading maps from my thumb drive, then It went black.
I looked at my Mercedes me app and it said another download was in progress.
I waited. Next time I got in the car the screen was alive and the map download had resumed.
So in the above mentioned cases, I wonder if there was a simultaneous download that I was competing for screen time.
