2024 GLS - Engine Oil Low message

Recently, we bought the 2024 GLS 450 and were driving from Vegas to SF. After driving continuously for few hours with an average speed of 70-75 MPH, it started showing "Check engine oil level at next refueling".

I went to the dealership, and no leaks found. The said, they topped it stating the car might not be topped from the factory itself.

As of today, it has around 4K miles, and the oil level is between Min and Max bars. Is it normal?

Appreciate the input. Thanks.

That's kind of the definition of normal. Do you have some reason to not believe the the results? It's obviously working since you said you got the warning, the dealership added some oil, and now the warning is gone. Relax and enjoy your new vehicle.

Ok. Thanks. I just wanted to make sure if the half-mark is correct since I am planning for another 2000 miles on it soon before the 1st service.

As with any fluid, it's not a precision science. There is a range of "normal" and then you go above and below. For the most part, even a "low" oil level is sufficient to keep the engine protected for a while. Most of the extra is there to keep dirt suspended between oil changes and ensure the oil pickup still has enough around it during turns to keep it submerged. Now if your warning comes back before the next oil change interval then a dealer would need to find the leak as it obviously is going somewhere.

Thanks. I will reach out to the dealer if the warning shows up again before the 1st service.
