Airmatic Error
Hi team,
On our 2020 GLS400d we have been getting an suspension error over the last 3 days. (Airmatic only, NOT E-ABC)
Comes up with a message on the dash to say suspension error do not exceed 80kph, but it’s intermittent - 80% of the time after a restart of the car it is fine (no error and I can adjust suspension through the height settings), but 20% of the time the effort is there and you can’t change the height.
Also, twice we have heard a dramatic air release, sounds like a pressure release valve exhausting air, only does it for 2-3 seconds and then stops. We’re not hearing any excessive pump sounds, so wondering if it is a sensor issue rather than a leak or pump failure.
Car is still under it’s 5 year warranty, so will be a dealer repair - but any thoughts on what it is please?
Main reason for asking is that our closest dealer is a 3 hour (each way) drive and we are due to go for a service in 3-4 weeks time. Wondering if it OK to wait for that trip, or if further damage is a possibility and it should either (a) be dealt with more urgently or (b) not driven unnecessarily.
Thoughts please?

My heart always sinks and my blood pressure rises when I see those two words. It basically means you are suspension Airbags are leaking, or your compressor isn't able to refill them quickly enough. It will just get worse. And if you were not under warranty, it would cost you several home mortgage payments to fix.

Could be a compressor overheat, could be the release valve is sticking - without plugging it in it's hard to tell. As long as it's not sagging on any corner you should be good.

Definitely sounds like an intermittent problem, which could be anything from a software bug to a sensor or other component that is failing intermittently. The only risk I can think of with continuing to drive it is the component will eventually totally fail and you’ll loose the suspension adjustment altogether. Of course, that will make it easier for the mechanic to troubleshoot. Intermittent problems are always the hardest to find. I would either wait to try to get your maintenance appointment advanced, so you can do both at the same time.
