No, haven’t pulled the trigger on anything yet. My concern about the i7 is the full EV, I do travel with the car and the EV charging on trips is not great, not entirely sure I am ready for that.
I do really like it. This one has the 22s, they still have a ton of sidewall on them though. As I have gotten used to it the I6 isn’t bad, but I am so used to the effortless V8…
I would option it up with Napa leather and all the leather dash and features, 3D audio etc.
I think the real test will be how will it feel to get back into my S class…will it feel amazing and make me lose any desire for the GLS? We will see. Hopefully it will be back Monday or Tuesday. Apparently the valve cover gaskets are a huge job that requires lowering the engine etc.

Hmmm, I see, it is opposite here in Canada, dealerships can't seem to sell them for some reason, maybe it has to do with the economy here. I initially thought is because people were worried about breakdowns. That said, BMWs and Porsches are selling like hot cakes here. Even saw quite a bit Maseratis on the road lately.

Full Range Rovers or RR Sports? RR Sports are easy to get, full RRs here take up to 18 months if you want the LWB one with the V8.
As for reliability, GLS isn't known for reliability...to me its a wash between the two.
So I got my S560 back today after 8 days with the GLS. I like the GLS a lot, but its not a replacement for the S Class. Its a vehicle I would like to sit in the driveway alongside the S Class...

I see, guess we need to shop for a different vehicle then.
Aside from the i7 being an EV, what can you get in the BMW that you can't in an S Class?
The interior of the new 7 is better than the interior of the W223 S Class, and the i7 rides and drives better. The EV powertrain is so incredible in a luxury sedan like that. The gas 760 I think the 223 rides and drives better. My concern is the EV when traveling, and I do like the looks of the S Class better, although I also really like the new 7.

Good to know! I'm not a fan of either the 7 series or i7 but it's only because of the front of the car! I think eventually I'll go back to sedans but it would be nice to have the "7" become an option again down the road...
If you don't care about the 2nd (no exec seats on the GLE) and 3rd rows (3rd row on GLS is much more usable than GLE), a GLE rides the same but IMO more dynamic vs the GLS. Something to consider since the GLE driver's seat environment is virtually no different vs the GLS.
*Also E-ABC isn't an option on GLE anymore.
I can tell you first hand...after driving an S I can not close the doors in the E....seriously. I got so used to the "soft close" that I cant close a freaking door. Once you are used to the S, well, you need to stay in an S. Going to S to GLS, easy for us.

When I first saw it, I HATED it. But it has grown on me, and it has to be the right spec (dark color).
This is what I would get, this is a M70, but its cosmetically the same

Its hard to go to something cheaper for sure. I don't drive as much as I used to, so its hard for me to justify spending this amount of money on a car vs when I spent all day in it. But, when I go to drive GLEs and E Classes and stuff like that...I just can't.

I know what you mean. Both the S and GLS have soft close doors, and I cringe each time someone closes the door hard. I get in another vehicle and the driver will tell me that my door is not closed!
So my S560 is at the dealer for a valve cover leak repair, and I have a GLS 450 loaner. We test drove GLSs for my wife but living with the car for a couple days gives you a new perspective. I like a lot of things about it, its not as solid and dynamic as the S Class, but it rides well and obviously has a lot more capability and practicality. I always think about going to an SUV but I have never pulled the trigger. I love the high driving position.
I would get a 580, I miss the V8...its about $15,000 cheaper than an S580 build, but the discounts are much better on the S Class so if anything at the end of the day the GLS is a little more expensive.
Has anybody gone from an S Class or other similar sedan to a GLS? Would be interested in your thoughts.
Here's the loaner in my garage, fits great, hatch still opens in the back and everything
I was getting ready to turn my 2022 S class in and decided to test drive the GLS450. I am very happy with my decision of buying it. I wanted something that was going to give me decent mileage as well as large capacity for cargo and people. Mileage is important and that’s why I went with the 450. It doesn’t have the same pick up as the S class but is is a lot heavier than a sedan. For a SUV it drives nice. Very comfortable inside. Best decision ever!

For an SUV it definitely drives nice, but its still an SUV, just isn't anywhere near as effortless to drive as the S Class. If you need or want the cargo capacity then thats a worthwhile tradeoff, but if you're like me I'm basically the only one in the car most of the time.
2020 GLS450 / 2024 Ford Bronco / (former) W212 4-matic 350 sport package
I've said over on the 212 forum a few times, the "new" Mercedes just does not compare to the pre-2020's in terms of "Mercedes Benz" feel and appeal. My 2014 E350 was far more "Mercedes" special than our 2020 GLS by a long shot. So, I can definitely see why you don't want to replace the S with a GLS, as the S is their flagship all hands on deck model. It. Is. Mercedes Benz.
So, guess you're back to square one with the Chrysler and the Mrs... Good luck amigo!
