Now we're all MB paid shills lol. Self important much? Sorry that we don't agree with you...

If you hate the car and the brand, just get rid of it. Can I Venmo you the $20 if it makes you stop complaining? lol

Steve, I'm not targeting you as I know you actively help others (as I hope you've seen me do in other threads).
Honestly, the only thing you're guilty of is not understanding my pain point (which is NOT the remote start sub model).

For the record, I do plan to continue my services and just need to decide if monthly or an annual plan makes more sense...

I appreciate that, but I don't think this is misrepresented...I was fully aware I would need to continue my Mercedes Me subscription to retain the remote start.

Hey all - Mercedes (and the automotive industry in general) are moving to the subscription model, as we've all established. This works fine for some of us, and understandably does not for some others.

For any of you who do not want to deal with this subscription aspect (and frankly also some of the shortcomings of the MB app for remote start), we have a new Smartkey Starter coverage for this vehicle platform - SKSNG167. Our plug-and-play solution will give you the ability to start the vehicle by way of your factory key fob, and you can also add things like a security sensor for upgraded security sensitivity, or activate a remote engine disable security feature when used in conjunction with the Drone Mobile smartphone control hardware / app. (Please note that our solution will require an extra vehicle key for the installation.)

If you're interested, give us a call at the number below and we can help you get what you want out of your vehicle!

My attempt to use the monthly subscription option was thought the iPhone app. Is there another way?

Guidance is that kids should not wear winter coats in car seats to avoid being ejected in a collision.

Chicago winters are very cold and why should my kids freeze their asses off those first 10 minutes until the car is warm on a 0-20 degree morning? The car won’t lock while it is running, so remote start really is the only option for downtown living. Like I said, I’m happy to pay for the months I need it, but if Mercedes is going to implement a subscription system though an app, you should make sure it works and provide support.

In my case, I’m unable to subscribe and Mercedes response has been 🤷‍♂️. Bad look for a luxury brand that just sold me another $100k car. I’m sure someone at MB reads this. How about following up with a solution?

I clicked through an email that took me to the Mercedes Me website on a desktop computer. You can log in and make purchases there.
For the record, the monthly plan was not an option for me as well!

The Mercedes remote start feature sucks. I also have a 2025 BMW X5 and it has remote start in the keyfob, it also automatically heats or cools the car, and turns on the seat warmers if it’s cold outside. All at no additional charge.

Once the GLS gets routines you can do the same with the seats sans the remote start from the key fob part.

The second facelift (if true) of the X167 GLS will get routines https://www.motorauthority.com/news/...lass-spy-shots or it might even get it next model year doesn't have to be an actual facelift, you never know. You need MBUX 3.0 NTG 8 and will get routines.

The W206 starting 2025 model year got NTG 8, MBUX 3.0 replacing NTG 7 MBUX 2.0 so it is certainly possible the GLS doesn't have to wait till next facelift to get routines.

“sucks” is strong language. I mean…it remote starts the car…other carmakers may have more features but it does what it’s supposed to do.

I think it's pretty cheap and greedy of Mercedes to charge a subscription for remote start. Starting in 2021 Ford pickup trucks have it for free as well as BMWs starting in 2020 I think. Someone else posted it's to recoup money for servers and whatnot but these servers are already being used for things Mercedes needs to do which are over the air updates so that's not a really a good argument.
I'm a BMW fan and this is my first Mercedes I just hope I don't end up regretting the decision to switch.

What number can we reach you on and does it work with 2023 GLB 250?

Thx,

There are a lot more things - most of which are more important to me than a remote start - that are included with the subscription.
I get a discount with my insurance for having the full package.

If you're looking for the most free things with a new car, get a BMW. They offer free service. Mercedes doesn't.

Aside from free things, I think you'll like the Mercedes better.

Which is ironic because they once charged for heated seats but at least not in North America.

That said, back to MB, agree, it is good to have the subscription for monitoring so many things, tire pressure, lock/unlock status, locate vehicle, sound alarm to find the vehicle, send destinations from phone to vehicle, service reminder, valet control, geofencing, coolant level ok, battery charge ok (is it charged, partly charged or critical level), notification reminder if vehicle is kept unlocked (forgot to lock) can remote lock/unlock vehicle, flash lights and last but not least, the remote start. Oh and I will add a nice touch is holiday themes, really sets the mood on top of the in vehicle graphical goodies.
