MBUX hates Microsoft

I have all my music on a USB stick. Recently I noticed that one of my albums was missing. Power Windows by Rush. I spent about an hour trying to figure out why.

Long story short I figured out that if a folder has the word "windows" anywhere in its name then MBUX will ignore it.

This is something that only happened in the 2024 MBUX or in the recent update. I didn't have this problem in my 2020.

Yeah the only thing I can think is that its meant to ignore some system files. But there is no reason why a Windows folder would ever be on a USB stick. Unless its specifically a Windows boot disk.

And the funny thing is MBUX doesn't even ignore its OWN Dashcam Video folder. I have to skip past the videos every time in the music player.

I forget if you have the higher end Burmester or the standard Burmester audio. Have you tried multichannel FLAC files yet?

We have the 3D audio. It's nearly unnoticeable until we play media off our USB. Mostly multichannel ALAC files and it sounds amazing. We debated the extra expense for the upgrade, but I was wrong and it was definitely worth it.

The most annoying thing is in the transition from the MY23 to the MY24 refresh, Mercedes migrated the MCH FLAC playback capability only to the much more expensive Burmester package. I'm not complaining since I have the MY23 but the cost cutting is getting really embarrassing for what is supposed to be a "luxury" brand!

FWIW Tidal just removed MQA and another fancy format from its offerings.
I wonder if licensing expenses are getting excessive.
