Did the dealership replace any parts? or only do an update? I am wondering.

They replaced the mbux control unit. Updates were failing otherwise.

Thank you for taking the time to reply to me. I have to take mine next week under warranty. I have also decided if any physical part is replaced I will sell my car.

Seems like the same issue as me. If your battery is easily accessible, you can try disconnecting it overnight. If that doesn't fix it, then it might be a hardware issue like mine.

….and here comes what we all know is coming - the breaking down of the electronics after 4-5 years.

I’m trying to figure out how to turn off automatic updates. Any pointers? What we have now, is all we want it to ever be. We don’t want any of these updates, not even the maps. Want to leave well-enough alone.

whatever the last one was, wiped out our ability to have two profiles. It remembers the seat and mirror settings of one profile, and won’t remember the settings for the second profile anymore. Just BS..

I couldn't find a way to turn it off and the update prompt was super annoying coming up daily. I pressed update not because I needed it wanted it, but because I wanted the popup to stop.

Uncheck "Automatic Online Update" in the car settings.

That didn't remove the prompt for me - however, I believe I selected something like that AFTER the prompt started.

It'll only stop future updates.

Lovely….. I think if that happens to us, I’ll just take it to the dealership to do. If it bricks, then I can blame them for it and have them fix it on their dime. No way I’m paying $5k for an infotainment computer module! Now I see why they’ve been so resistant to making Apple CarPlay an easy and full user option.

That's 100% the move. Push it off until your dealership visit for service or a recall and have it do it then.

yep, this sounds like one of those “don’t have a choice” visits. Otherwise, mine never sees a MB dealership for any service or repair. Honestly wondering if that’s why ours has been perfect mechanically. Like the spark plug wiring harness issue that some are reporting. How mine could have new plugs installed at my indi with zero problems, and others end up with broken harnesses from the dealership doing the service, is a real head scratcher, and just makes me not trust the dealership even more. I treat my servicing like any other car. At 50k intervals, all fluids & filters tip-tale and plugs come out. In between, it’s just oil and air filters. That’s it.
