Disappointing to hear and a deal breaker for me!

The concierge service is intriguing: does the concierge come to your location in a loaner car? I'd imagine this service is limited by the number of loaners...
Yes, certain MB dealerships also have similar concierge services at least before everything that happened in the world, I am not sure which ones is the problem.

2021 GLS 450 & 23 GLS 450. Have a Holden Commodore, Jeep, truck, and more
For me space and towing capacity was important. When I looked at both the Mazda and Kia/Hyundai and these were not comparable. The mazda seemed the smallest of the 3, but does have a beautiful red exterior color available.

We have good friends that bought a Kia because their son in law worked at a Kia dealer and could get them a deal on fully loaded rare color so they were interested. It has been fine. He did warn them to do their services early or right on time because Kia looks for any reason to deny warranty. I have heard similar for Hyundai. Supposedly the engine in the Telluride is not one of the engines you hear about blowing up constantly. These friends went to buy something new a year or 2 ago and decided against it because the depreciation was quite a bit more than they expected. It has been good for them so far, but they feel a but trapped by the depreciation since they typically get a new car every 3-4 years.

That is sad because the reliability of those aren't exactly that good.

Shifting Issues - hopefully resolved?

Adding to this thread regarding shifting issues - our 2024 had extremely harsh downshifts only from 5>4 especially of note.

Today, the dealer installed a software update (I had read about it somewhere on here) via Xentry. Here’s the link to the bulletin. I’m picking it up tomorrow and will report back if it did the trick!

On the brand debate of the last few parts of the thread, I’ll just say I’m a MB loyalist. Prior, we had a host of American cars and two Lexus, but it wasn’t until we bought our first (CLK350 cabriolet) that I realized cars can actually have souls! We are on number 6 now, and I favor the V8s since I bought the first S Class). My wife threw a monkey wrench into the trend by wanting a Range Rover - worst decision ever - with better than routine maintenance, the head gasket was failing at 80k. We have several 10+ year old MB approaching 150k and other than minor things here and there, they’ve been golden. I’m not going to tempt fate again - she loves her GLS so all is good in the world. Working from home I rarely drive other than for errands or the pleasure of driving - so I’m fighting the urge for a new S Class when my current one that sits in the garage 90% or the time more than fits the bill. I’ve actually had a “strange” idea to start buying cars from my high school and college days that I liked but couldn’t afford - and thought if I find one decently cared for. It doesn’t have to last forever, I’ll make a list of those and buy a couple “as needed” for daily drivers until the expense of repair exceeds value. Maybe it’s just a mid life experiment. Haha.

To be true to the thread title there doesn't seem to be many GLS (X167) issues, which is good. MB still seems to have issues with transmissions and sorry to hear that could be an annoyance, like my 2020 S560 when it downshifts. I live with it, it's minor but annoying for what the car is. Or can the GLS be fixed with updates? Also sounds like the 48v system gremlins have been ironed out. Any recent news there?

Wish I could fall for a lesser brand and save some money but it's hard to go there.

We had a 2008 GL diesel and really liked it, my wife loved it and she still talks about it. Maybe move to a new GLS in the spring or before their hyper screen update happens.

2008 GL 550
My new GLS 450 is great! Plenty of power, have towed with it already and is perfect. I have been changing my own oil and have a technical question Ill post elsewhere.
We had an '08 GL 550 and this new one is everybit as fast and quicker too!
