2020 GLS 450 Headlight Replacement Question
I had a rock fly up and break my driver's side headlight, causing a baseball-sized hole to form in the headlight plastic. With the addition of some rain and an unsuccessful temporary tape repair, water got inside and fried my headlight module.
My question is: I know the part numbers that are currently installed on my car, but it seems Mercedes has made many different part number variations of the same headlight (multibeam) that are compatible with my car, according to parts websites. I can find the module easily for replacement, but finding a headlamp that hasn't had its mounting tabs broken is nearly impossible. Are other multibeam headlamps compatible with my model and modules? When searching for images of them, they look identical.
For example, all of these headlamp model #s claim to be for the 2020 GLS 450 w/ multibeam: 1679066508, 1679060110, 1679068910, etc.
My current installed headlights are as follows:
Headlamp - 1679069506
Driver Module - 24790040004

The only way I know to do that would be to use a factory part source such as MBpartsUSA or similar.
Any place that asks you to input your VIN to verify the part fits your car. Then the fit is guaranteed. I wish they'd reimburse for wasted labor ....
Possibly AutoHausAZ or Pelican Parts - I think they also verify VINs.
My dealer's parts department has been helpful on a couple of occasions on parts that I wasn't going to buy from them. Once by phone and another in person, we compared parts diagrams, numbers, and prices.
One was for a complete right side exhaust system, which I bought online and had it shipped to the dealer for installation.
