Oil change on a GLS 580
Going to my local indie for it. Is it necessary or just a really good practice to use BG Advanced Formula MOA 115 ?

99% of people who drive a GLS don't even know what BG Advanced Formula MOA 115 is, and their cars have been fine. To me, taking the extra mile is nice, but I'd label this among the (mentally and spiritually great, but waste-of-money) category.

2021 GLS 450 & 23 GLS 450. Have a Holden Commodore, Jeep, truck, and more
BG Stuff works, but I'm not sure it's a necessary part of a regular oil change. Maybe every few oil changes at most.

Never heard of it. My best practice is to change the MB spec.oil more often. If additives were necessary MB would specify it and make it unique to charge more.

Someone posted a copy of invoice recently from dealer and this was on the invoice. That’s why I asked. Going to indie for oil change since two local dealers want over 50@ for “A” service. My indie is a former MB master tech.

I stopped using BG's MOA (and 44K) a couple decades ago when I felt that the synthetics on the market had developed their additive packages sufficiently that aftermarket oil additives were not needed.
Now I think that oil additives might be counterproductive, possibly conflicting with the OE total package. The chemistry is complex.

The only oil additive I use now is BG RF7, only on high mileage engines - over 250,000 miles. It can delay a rebuild for another 50 - 80,000 miles.

I occasionally used Chevron Techron as a fuel additive.
I used Amsoil Cetane Booster on my diesel fuel.

But no oil additives.

I'd follow the advice of your indie given his back ground. That said, I'm at 90k on a 450 and have never used it and it runs as well today as it did when I brought it home new in 2020. I have used Seafoam in the oil right before a change to clean up the internals from varnish as an old habit, but never had an additive in the oil for duration before.

BG=snake oil. It's only purpose is to pad the pockets of the service facility.

I've had good luck with some of their products.

Always read your repair order before you okay it with your signature. Because you are authorizing with your signature.
