Primary Display Insights - 2026 GLS 450

Hi everyone-

Curious about some annotations on the speed display on the 2026 GLS 450. See attached photo.

I was driving with distronic engaged and all safety/driver assistance features engaged. Speed was set at 60 (green pointer at 60) on an interstate with the speed limit of 55. I'm curious about the red marks at 35 mph and 55 mph, along with a red line that appears to connect 55 mph with the current speed of 60. One theory I have is that the 55 mark is for the current car-observed speed limit (visible in photo) and the red line between 55 and 60 is showing how much over the speed limit I'm traveling. I'm perplexed by the 35 mark. Thanks for any insights.

Your theory on the 55 mph sounds right. Did you happen to pass by any speed limit signs for exit ramps that would be 35 mph?

Great question. Unfortunately, I can't recall what the offramp situation looked like as I snapped this photo. I'll keep an eye out on future drives to see if that might have played a role.

Thanks!

I'm fairly certain that 35 and 55 are highlighted simply because they are common limits that aren't a multiple of 10. The red line from 55 to the current limit is likely an overspeed warning.

Thanks! I saw a thread from 2023 that supports your feedback of 35/55 being common speed limits.
