E320 CDI diesel Killed BMW 530i

1st stoplight, Bimmer and Benz neck and neck to 30 mph then CDI prevailed as turbo came around.

2nd stoplight, I loaded the turbo to 2000 RPM and holeshot him when the light turned green. Sudden death for the Bimmer, he just kept falling behind as his motor screamed.

Eat DIESEL FUMES!!!!

In his defense I must say he had one passenger and I was solo, so I had a slight weight advantage.

The E is pretty heavy ~1650kg for E320 (petrol), 1505kg for 530i.

So you did better than you think! Unfortunately we don't have the new E320 CDI here, we have the old E270 though. The E270 CDI is about the same price as an E240 in Australia.

Ran with a 1995 M3

Myself and buddy went to a long uphill section of road yesterday, 1995 M3 manual trans(perfect condition only 40K miles) vs. CDI.

CDI got holeshot, then stuck right with him, right up to 90 MPH then we backed off in the interest of not getting stupid.

I was amazed, I thought I would "lose" by at least 3 cars. I have riden in his M3 and it feels faster than the CDI. Just amazing for a 4,000-pounder that gets almost 40 miles per gallon.

Also killed 2003 Crown Victoria (police pkg) owned by a local, on ramps, standing start, and open highway run. On the open highway run, he was absolutely devastated. He was in front of me as we merged onto the interstate, and a mere spec in the rearview in about 1/2 mile.

Now obviously these are boring "kills" but amazing for a DIESEL!!!

Are you sure that your buddy's "M3" is not a rebadged 325?

100% sure.

Standard (non-"lightweight") M3.
