Gee i wonder where they're getting the idea to talk about ego? Just so you know Lexani, im not one of these tools who goes around bashing you all the time, i've actually defended you on occasion. But your claims about Ferrari's lacking performance abilities are just stupid. For one, ferrari doesnt need as much HP as Mercedes because of the performance-mindedness of the ENTIRE car, not just the engine...bare carbon fiber interiors, racing seats, fixed roofs (rather, absense of a cool, but chunky, folding hard top). Basically, its a different philosophy of building cars, mercedes makes their cars heavy and comfortable, its like a spa treatment...oh yeh you have to do that driving thing while you're in there too. You get leather, electronics, automatic gearboxes, etc, which are all fine by me, and like StephenK said, it makes for a GREAT daily driver. I dont think its necesssarily fair to compare the two because they are built for completely different purposes. However, since they do compete for the same market audience, and since we already are comparing them, ill play along. Ferrari makes the WHOLE car to perform, and has consistently proven themselves on the track and on the street. I have cited in the past how Enzo Ferrari only began making street cars in order to fund his racing ventures, and up until the 1962 250 GTO, Ferrari's street cars were just road going versions of their track cars.
As for you claims about Ferrari being "ugly" ( ) i think you are the ONLY person i have EVER spoken with who is of that opinion, but to each his own. I just have a hard time putting "ugly" together with this (thanks for the pic, btw):
Performance wise, you're just wrong. The F430 will beat you to sixty by half a second. Given these numbers, i dont think that Ferrari is in sad shape for "lack of torque". What IS sad though its that MB only makes 490 HP from a 6.0L V12, and Ferrari can squeeze that out of a 4.3L V8, which i might add is the same size engine that StevenK beat, because Mercedes only got 270HP and less than 300 pound feet of torque out of that engine size. i mean, do you realize that BMW can squeeze 333hp out of a 3.2? The 6.0L SHOULD have more torque than the 4.3, it has 4 more cylinders and 1.7 more litres. So where's the problem?

You did not mention that you could drive a F430/F430 Spider for 2-3 years and then sell it for more then MSRP! Not to many cars carry that type of respect. I have seen slightly used CL65's in my area going for low $150K's (makes me sick).

Im laying it to rest-- for now, but rest assured, when that day rolls around, we will both find out which is faster-- no mag racing here.

You're welcome. Wasn't to hard to find. Just typed in would-be Enzo at google. And when better pics didn't suffice, I typed in "ugly cars" and I nailed it.

We will see about that.

Yeah that is SAD! You want to know what else is sad? Here, I'll tell you...

What IS sad is the Ferrari (Enzo) makes only 490 TQ from a 6.0L V12, and MB can squeeze that-- MORE than tha, out of a 5.4L V8, which I might add is a four door sedan we call the E55.

Do you realize that Honda can squeeze 1200HP out of an S200? Which has about as many liters as a bottle of coke?

So... Shouldn't the Enzo 6.0L have MORE torque than the E 5.4, it has 4 more cylinders and .6 more liters. So where's the problem?

TO EACH HIS OWN. - King320.

For once, we agree. Hold tight for another month or so, we have a 430 suppose to be coming to the meet, and we can end all this magazine racing then. I see where you're coming from, but you must understand, Im simply taking a stand for what I love-- likewise Im sure. So you asked, "where's the poblem?" To which I seriously respond: No where, we are just having fun

Best Regards,
John

I'll look forward to the results of your race, just make sure to get a video. Once again, i think that Ferrari needs less torque because they have less weight to get rolling. As for the E55, you're missing that the 55 motor in the E,SL,CL,etc is supercharged. one would expect a forced induction engine to make more torque than a naturally apirated motor in the same size range. If you compare that same motor normally aspirated (the normally aspirated 55 motor in the CLK 55) you'll see that it only makes 376 TQ. THIS is what you should be comparing the enzo to if you want to talk about how it stacks up against the 55 engine.

edit:
what kind of mods have you done to your 600? the numbers im putting out are if both are stock, but if you have done anything serious to your car, you might have shot just kidding man, i hope you have a good race, and if you lose, just show off the folding hardtop and comment about how comfortable your SL is

still ...

go to any model range page. go to the features & specs tab, and then go to 16 years model overview. it has all the models that mbusa have sold in the U.S. in recent years.

Not a Kill and (not) funny ?

Ok since we're talking about kill stories here.. this just happened yesterday..

I was driving my car on a pretty busy street during rush hour and suddenly i saw this black S500 AMG (yup) on the lane next to me about 3 cars ahead. Since it was a busy street i had to try pretty hard to pull next to him.. and as I was passing him, i lowered my window, stick my hand out and give him a thumb up. I don't really know if he saw me or not.. lol

Dude, at least change your body kit too.. Oh well, they say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

Perhaps I should give more info. Yes, of course I'm envious of him. That's a given, Lexani. However, I thought/assumed given your location that you were some frat-boy at FSU who's daddy bought them an sl600. Now in that case, I hope we'd all agree that it would be just sad.

The fact that your French makes it even more funny.
Vomit is spelled the same way in french.
it's just pronounced differently but means the same thing

Just a body kit-- and exhaust. Nothing to add hundreds of horsepower.

Wow, you guys sure are hard on Stephen and John. I would love to have their sweet rides! Years of hard work and business sense finally paid off and we are all sitting around trying to put them down? Thats not even right...

Stephen just wanted to comment on an interesting story that happened to him, nothing more, nothign less. Why try to put him down and call him names?

Besides, even my Chrysler 300C will rip CLK430 a new one. No one ever thought that CLK430 W208 would beat a SL600 wtin turbo V12 monster...

BTW - John and Stephen - NICE RIDES!!

Thanks

Thanks for the nice comments. These characters have amazed me with their comments on this, but most of these people are just bitter and jealous. Life is to short to waste time bickering with them.

Personaly I thought you little story was amuzing I have been in the same situastion several times where I see someone in front playing with obviously slower car. It has then given me childish pleasure to move ahead and play a little, and that has nothing to do with me trying prove I have a supperior or more expensive car. Its just plain old fun....
All the more fun since I have a real taste for the stealthy looks of all my cars.

Allthough the SL would not be my first choice if I ever was to spend that kind of cash on a car, it is a very very nice car

You can count on Vomit to act like the rest of the French. Vomit you shouldn't be such a bitter person. If owning the crappy C-class has you so upset get rid of it and buy a real car.
