SL600 - Porsche Boxter S
This past weekend a friend who lives in my community had a coworker visiting him who had a porsche boxter s, they were driving through the community with the top down looking cool, when they went by my house I was out front with my dog they waved and a few minutes later they turned around and stopped over. My SL320 was in the driveway, the others in the garage. My neighbor knowing I like to hot rod around at times asked me if I wanted to go out and run against a porsche, I said sure thing let me go get my keys, I was already grinning as they were looking at the old SL320. I went in got my keys and opened the garage door and said I will take this one (SL600) since I haven't driven it in a while. He asked me what kind of engine it had in it, and I told him a small V12, which the car needed since it was so so so heavy.
Porsche engines always amaze me, the sound of them in very unique.
We went out to a more rural stretch of highway east of town and waited for no cars to be around and then launched. Even though he was reving up his engine it didn't seem to do anything for his launch, it was quite evident early on that he had a manual transmission and was not the best of shifters. It was not even a contest, I took him at the launch and only opened up distance from there. I stopped at a little over 110. We did it a couple more times, the last time I let him get me at the start, and quickly went by him. The subtleness of this car is amazing, no real noise to it, very deceiving to people.
he told him I was a Mercedes man and had a sports car, he asked him if he thought I would be interested in racing him a little so he could show off his car.

Ive always wanted to do that. Have like a Z4 outside, and then have a Lambo Murci in the garage, or an F50.

The Boxter (s or otherwise) is not a REAL Porsche... the 9xx family is what's up.. Those are Phat! My sister has a 997, and while I find it sounds like a souped up bug, and drives like a disney buggy.. it's damn fast! And handles like it's glued to the street.
Caveat (IMHO)

Stephen, you are loud and clear on that one. The driving position on the Turbo versus the X5 (what I have now) clearly fall in the X5's favor. I had a Turbo for about a week and a half to drive around before we got the X5. Although pretty much everything is in the X5's favor... 450hp is just too convincing.
At a 110k$ price tag though.... that's almost two of my X5's!

It was all in fun. I enjoy taking the same run occasionally by myself. This time I just had someone there to look at the back of my car.
