CLS55 Vs Viper SRT10

Just got my CLS55 back on Sat from Lucent Motors in Santa Monica. I got the Kleemann K1 package and the 20" Renntech Monolite wheels. Besides the car looking great the K1 package really delivers and I'm living proof. I didn't get my 2nd dyno yet but I will this weekend and post the results.

Met up with my friend Sunday and he was very curious about my car. I gave him a ride, nothing too wild, and he asked if i wanted to see how my car would hold up against his 05 Viper. I was going to take this opportunity no matter what but I was really curious my self to be honest. I know in the past I had beat SRT10s in my GT2 but not by any large margin so this was one race I really had no clue how it would turn out. Being that the CLS55 is deceivingly smooth, even with the K1, my friend was sure he would beat me.

For our first run we found a great stretch of empty road and just stopped, lined up and had the old 1, 2, 3 count. I kept it in "S" mode with the ABS on and just floored it. I felt the ABS fight to get traction and when it did I shot out way in front and continued to do so until I had a good 3 car length lead. At around 70-80 mph the gap stayed the same and I hit the breaks at around 100mph. As usual when people get whipped when they think they should be winning he asked for another run. All and all we ran 5 times, two with me driving his car and all had the same result. He knew I had the mod but still was just amazed his lighter 500hp V10 was getting beat by a 4 door luxury sedan. It was great! After some experimenting it feels as if I get better launches with the ABS off but I still beat the Viper with it on with no problem at all. What a car and what a mod.

Are you happy considering you sold a Porsche Turbo? How does the driving experience compare? I'm getting a Turbo cab in the spring.

To be honest my gemballa Turbo was the best performing car I have ever driven and the only car I have owned that I was undefeated in and I raced everything from 300k lambos to a WRX on Nos. Hard to beat having all that power and being all wheel drive. They launch like nothing else. But on the other hand the turbo, like my GT2, was a weekend car that was a pain in traffic and even though I had nav and a great sound system it was a sleeping bag compared to being in the Ritz ****pit of the CLS55. All things considered I prefer the CLS55. I get a head turner that will beat most cars out there and is an absolute pleasure to drive. I really do recommend the K1 mod. Makes the difference from a fast car to a monster.

Right now I have an 01 CLK55 when I pick up the Turbo Cab would that then be the best of both worlds?

I can believe a CLS55 w/ K1 could defeat an SRT-10 Viper. The CLS is a much easier car to drive off the line while the Viper takes a bit more to drive it. Having both an E55 and Viper GTS, I can say with confidence that I can pull a better 1/4 time in my E55 then my Viper.

Soon, I'll find out if I'm right because I'm taking the 55 to the track in the next few weeks. The best time I could pull with my Viper is 12.3@118 on street tires. I imagine I could pull low 12's or high 11's with radials, but I would rather know what I can do on the street on any given day.

Stage K1 consists of an Engine Performance Kit containing a custom-made ECU program and a redesigned pulley wheel. I'll have my exact gains after my next Dyno this weekend.

Go get the K2 with headers and add the LSD and IC mod for the complete monster. Cory and Brandon are great guys

If you want to get crazy, maybe add the throttle body from the V12-Bi Turbo that Kleemann will be offering to select customers.

Its really good to read stories from real enthusiasts.

BTW the GT2 was the only car that ever whipped my (sold) Nissan Skyline R34 GTR with mods.

My perfect garage would be a CLS55 and the Skyline....

nice
only one thing... when u buy wheels only, stick with hre, my personal opinion.. u shouldve either went for kleeman wheels and k1 or reentech wheels and reentech upgrade or either upgrade with hre's or other wheels only brands... hre is the best however
i live in la and drive over the worst ****.. and these are the only wheels that can withstand the abuse (235 /35, 275/30) tiny sidewall
just my personal opinion, dont get offended
