SLR Vs 1994 SL500.
yes folks, one of my 4 race dreams has come true.
on the way home from dinner, in my SL im sitting at a turn light and i see large iluminated red triangles. i think, "wow that looks like the Viper (coupe)taillights." but then as i move up a little more i see taht is it not a viper but a Black SLR. i am quite drawn back, because in newport we only have 2 SLRs in black, and 4 in silver, so it is quite a rairity. i safely pull out of the turn lane and into the straight lane. i am a car behind, and to the left of teh SLR. the light turns green and he starts moving. we are about 1/2 way above San Juaquine Hills Rd. when the car that was in front of him moves into my lane, and clears the lane, and the SLR punches it, never before have i heard such a wonderful dance between a low pitched V8 and the high song of a supercharger. i brisky pull into the free lane and try to catch up to him (like i had a chance). but he slowed down for a red light to turn on to Newport Coast Rd..
i finaly made it to the red light with him. he slowley makes the right hand turn and then runs to about 80, i do the same. so there i was, crusing about 10 cars behind an SLR while speeding, it was awsome. but then.... the so familar screem of a Blown engine........ he takes off. and a once more powerful rush of adrenalin and endorphins. i take the goose to 3rd gear, and hope that this wonderful moment with teh SLR would last longer, just two guys in there mercedes, powerful V8s, and one giving a kid his dream.
falling quickly behind, i am about 100+ cars away, and i look down at my speed, 135ish, never has a car in the history of my racing belittled 135MPH as much as the SLR was now. the smile implanted on my face was ENORMOUS! and i was in disbelief. up ahead, the light was red, and in the turn lane again was the SLR. before i could get nexto him, and show him a very happy kid, he turned, and he gave me a thumbs up, as he drove up the hill to his community.
man, what a great ending to a crappy monday!
next i hope it will be the ZOnda!

The only way you could kill that ting is by hitting it in the rear when it brakes. :v

Eh, don't underestimate the 600 Twin Turbo. Car and Driver Television clocked a stock one's 0-60 at 3.6 seconds (I was shocked when I saw it ). With some Renntech tuning (625 hp 745 tq), it would be an interesting race. Regardless, the SLR is a gorgeous car. The Brabus SLR is almost unreal.

BMW 318is (E36)
I saw one a few months ago and the driver nailed the throttle right of the line and man that thing is LOUD! It sounds so awesome though, I could have sworn that engine changed the air pressure, it made my head hurt as if I was changing altitude! LOL! Too bad I was at a red light facing the other direction, not like the e320 I was in had a chance anyways
