well considering the c230k redline is 6000 it doesnt really matter if the "puff" runs out at 5500. and a supercharger exhibits no turbo lag....quite the contrary a supercharger delivers a good amount of boost even at lower rpms.

Had a brand-new C230K Sport Package as a loaner...

solid car for its size but boy was it pokey.

It felt like a complete slug. Wide-open, in transmission "sport" mode it was only worth about 1/8-1/4 throttle of the CDI in "C" mode. Sucked more gas, too. Way more. Only got about 450 miles on a tank compared to over 700 for the CDI.\

Must admit, I was jealous over the nice 17" wheels and 4-pot brakes and nice body kit, in a much less expensive car, too.

Pure highway run

on the 450 miles.

Didn't have chance to measure urban MPG before returning car.

I guess I'm just saying that all in all how quick a car is, is relative. The car may be slow compared to other "rice" brands in the same price range, but then again that is because it is a mercedes. This car maybe not be a drag champion, but comparitively to the average car on the road it is slightly faster. As long as some ahole isn't accellerating as you pass, merging into traffic and passing is no problem (if you're a safe driver that is).

the c230, seems to have more than enough power for the average consumer. I test drove a few of them before getting the 320. AND i had a blast, wind it up and it moves.

ALSO... reading through this... PEOPLE ARE YOU SERIOUS... you can't compare a E55 or CLK or ANY OTHER AMG to the c230... how did this thread go from acura vs benz to AMG vs. C230?

1.8 liter doesn't get to play with the 55's...

KID, good kill... I've actually always wanted to run against one... i've riden in them and they feel fast, but they also feel heavy...

The Mercedes vans are sold here as Dodge Sprinter

I recommend discontinuation of the C class at Mercedes dealerships.

Sell it through the Dodge network as the "Flourescent." (Neon already taken).
:p

i dont think we are comparing a c230 to any amg car, just providing examples. for 30k however i would buy a used c32 or e55 or m3 (e36, dont like the look of the new 1)

no need to discontinue the c class, just discontinue the 230 and 240 or whatever they make now. the 280 is quick and fun to drive.
keep the 280 and 350
they are good cars, for 33-40k its very nica and affordable.
id still buy something used though, i prefer sportier cars. im not even satisfied w/ my clk55, not speed wise, handling and weight and its distribution and the way it eats the front tire shoulders
and i need a stick

true the CLK is based on the C class. I don't feel like I'm driving a C class. I know I didn't pay for a C class.

What can I say....I'm a pompous, self centered jerk.

They had to base the CLK on a "C"

If it were based in on an "E" then it would be the ELK55.

You would have to mount giant antlers on the hood.
