Cool clk55 v. g35 cpe.

i was driving home on the freeway about 20min ago going about 75
i c some bright *** xenons closing in on me.
i let him get about 2 car length behind and i floored it to c if he wanted 2 play.
he did.
we floored it from about 80 and i instantly pulled about 4 carlengths and the distance kept increasing at a reasonable pace after. i tapped my brakes and slowed to about 105-110. i saw him coming up and i floored it again. as my car kicked down we were dead even.
i slowly began pulling away until about 140, he was about 4 or 5 carlengths behind me now. there was a turn coming up and i noticed that he slowed down and quit. by that time i was in fifth at about 147. i saw a clear stretch of road after the turn and decided to c how fast i can go since i was alredy "up there". i took the turn at about 150-152. the car kept accelerating 153.. 154... 155.... 156..... 157...... 158........ 159....., i hit an indicated 160mph. before some1 decided to get into my lane (kinda) far ahead. i decided that thats enough.... my exit was next anyways. thats the fastest i have taken my car to, i was very surprised that the limiter didnt kick in.. it was still accelerating at 160mph.
there is no reprogramming of any sort on my car.
its got a muffler, airbox work and k&n filters

had a similar with a 6mt G35 coupe.....

on the 60 fwy near Chino Ca.

ran from 60 to about 120....

my car was bone stock and I had atleast 4 to 5 cars when I shut down.

he followed me and gave me props and he said "your car is pretty quick, is it a manual?" I said no... just a plain auto.

Before we raced, he was literrally being a ***** to all the other cars and cutting them off and trying to be hard on.

When he saw me, he slowed down to play. He waited for me to even out and I let it fly. The guy was cool about it... even though he lost.

Those cars is pretty quick, but for some reason they don't produce the numbers they should. I used to own a G35 sedan and just sold it. Great engine and handling, but quality was my biggest gripe.

thats what i was surprised about.
ive gotten it up to 150 + at least 6,7 times but neve for long enough or close enough to be sure that the limiter was working. this time i hit an indicated 160mph and held it there for what seemed like min. but were really seconds. and the car was still accelerating when i lifted off. the speedo ran out though cause it goes to 160 only, i might have hit 161 162

thank u

this is what most people that try to race me c

i think he simply gave up
my conclusion is drawn from the fact that he was decelerating way faster than i was accelerating.

he used his brakes to slow him down. if his limiter kicked in at 145 then he wouldve slowly deccelerated (from my point of view) at the same speed i was accelerating away from him but this was quicker

I have a 95 SL500, we were headed to SD from LA. I got a stretch, we reached 140, but I saw two vehicles on the side of the road up ahead, one was flashing lights, I thought it was a cop, so I slowed down. Fastest I ever went, but no limiter had kicked in.

We were headed to the Chargers/Broncos game. Probably would have been better had I got pulled over and taken to jail than to sit through that pathetic game and listen to the dweebish Bronco fans. GO BACK TO DENVER!

All US spec non-AMG cars are supposed to be limted to 130 mph. My E430 stopped at exactly 130 mph and would go no faster, even though I had a lot of pedal left. US spec AMG's are supposed to be limited to 155 mph although I have buried the 160 mph speedo in mine. It seems there are variations between cars, but I would guess you were about maxed out. Watch out for the G35/350Z cars with blowers. They run quite a bit better.

AMG will increase the top speed limiter on some AMG cars from 155, depending on the model.

The Package Code 030 for the SLK55 raises the limit to 176mph.
The Package Code 030 for the SL55 and CLS55 raises the limit to 186mph.

Sure the G35 is quick and handles well, but they don't stand a chance against AMG cars on the freeway. I'm not sure why they still try, but perhaps they really want to find out for themselves?

"your car is pretty quick, is it a manual?" This definitely comes from a guy who doesn't have much knowledge of AMG.

As previous owner of a G35 and spent plenty of time at teh G35driver.com and freshalloy.com.

I can tell you that a Supercharger on a coupe or sedan run about 13.8 to 13.5 quarter mile.. with some lower exceptions. For some reason the blower producing over 100hp does not make the G35 all that fast (auto or manual)

However the Twin Turbo is a different story.

I bet you raced a supercharged G35, which was able to keep up. The twin turbo set up is much quicker at higher speeds.

the other day a black G35coupe on the 91 fwy was showing me his kompressor whine.. by putting his car really next to me and reving his engine. Too bad we were only going 30mph or else he would of receive a taste of AMG.

Quick is really a relative word. Against the likes of AMGs, Ms, and Porsches, the G35 isn't quick. But against its competition like the E46 and IS300 it is. Here are the specs:
