My C36 just lost to an SRT-4!!!

Last time I was in the shop (one of many times, I assure you), I was looking over a brand new C55 in the showroom. According to the sticker, it had 349 HP. I don't know anything about Dodge, but how can the C beat the pants off a 425hp hemi? Is it the weight difference?
I am not trying to inflame anything, just honestly curious.

It is not what I expected from that car. I thought it would be much faster than the C55. the numbers I posted are from Dodges web site. I also checked a few review sites and forums before my post.
My A$$ dyno says the same as dodges web site (not as quick) You will have to drive one to know what I mean

I'm not saying this is a bad car BUT IS IT WORTH $5K over sticker

In the rare event a Benz loses a race its only because they raced Top Fuel dragster, and they missed a gear.

quote: Launching the Charger SRT-8 is extremely tricky. We got our best time by power braking the car to 1,500 rpm in automatic mode with the traction control turned off. Trying to launch without a power brake and/or in manual shift mode results in short shifts and more aggressive traction control (even though it's "off." The trans shifts at 6,000 rpm, and redline is set at 6,250. In manual mode, there is a delay in upshifts where the car actually hesitates between gears unless you intiate the shifts very early. We think its cool that the SRT-8 model allows you to control shifts and hold gears, but the ultra-intrusive ESP program is NOT so cool in a 425-horse performance car.
So if the SRT-8 Charger cannot post numbers better than a C55 or C32 how does Mr Mopar think his Neon SRT-4 (super car) will smoke any C55 or C32?

let's not declare the AMG C-class the winner yet...
According to these test, the 1/4 time is as good as the C55 and better than the C32 amg. The trap speed good as the C55 and better than C32.
Unless the C32 has pullies, it has no chance. With ECu and pullies, the C32 will win. (Stage 1 C32's run high 12's with 108 to 111 MPH trap speeds)
stock vs stock: Unless the C55 has a very good launch it will stay pretty much even and according to the trap speed,
Moddified (without Kompressors) I give the edge to the SRT8, cheaper $$ to mod.
From the launch, I give the edge to the AMG due to its better transmission programming and stability control programs.
From a roll it would be up to the drivers reaction times..
Personally I think the SRT8 300c is a great car, lots of room. Too bad here in So Cal, the 300C is so played out! They all have 22's and have giant gaps in the wheel wells...
If I didn't have the money for a E55, I would buy a 300c and start looking for a blower.

Terrible post...however, I don't want to side with the guy, but SRT's are a little quicker than some people expected. Stock, they can take an 05 GT Mustang...as for Mercs, I'm not too sure, it is still a NEON

not going to totally disagree with you but as far as the c32 having no chance ....well none of the the times you have posted for the srt8 managed to beat the best times achieved by the c32 so i think we should say they're all pretty evenly matched

C36 is pig slow! SRT-4 with small mods will annhilate AMG C36 bottom line. They are high 14 to low mid 15 sec cars those C36's.SRT-4 will give one no mercy performance wise. That's what this kill section is about. Not the obvious quality between the 56k car and the 20k car.Jeez you guys.

The best time acheived by a C32 was from Mototrend... it was 13.2xx 1/4 with a trap speed of 107mph.. If you have a faster published time, then I would love to see it.
Most stock C32's trap at around 107, 106 & 105.
The fastest SRT8 time was 13.1 and the fastest trap speed is 109.
2 MPH trap is a big difference.
C32's downfall is the lack of torque downlow, and the driver will need to be in the correct power band and gear to have a chance. With a pulley, this greatly improved. The difference between stock and a pulley C32 is very noticeable.
C55's trap speed is higher and therefore they will be able to keep up and have a better chance beating SRT8 than the C32.
All I'm saying... let's not get to far ahead and down play a car (SRT8) that has proven with factual data, that it is very good performer for its MSRP.
I agree, this thread is becoming a bit boring now...
I'll be on the look out for that SRT4 (silver, no lsd, no mods)

all I said is on paper the car is a mid 13 sec car according to Dodge
With the trap speeds the STR-8 has I think that a race to 125mph the Charger will win 420fp of torque is 420fp of torque. with a few mods (under 1k) this car would be a mid 12sec car.
It is kind if like my BB Chevy Jag my best et is 11.49 with a trap speed of 133mph. with a trap speed 133 the et should be in the 10sec range. but the car can not hook up even with drag radials till the top of second gear. the best 60ft time this car has ever gotten was 2.90. That was with a friend driving that drives a 9.80 Mustang and averages 1.60 or better 60ft times. [B]You can have all of the HP and Torque in the world but if you cannot get it to the ground it does you no good.
I think the Charger is a monster with no grip on the road and a really bad ESP program.
one last thing did anybody pay 5k over sticker for there car. that is what dodge dealers are trying to get for these cars

After 4 pages of this crap, someone says it. So the OP baited the thread with the title, big ******* deal! That POS SRT-4 (as many of you guys say, not me) would still beat a C36 all day long. Its not about the price and its not about quality.
That SRT-4 is what it is...an inexpensive but really quick car. Dollar for dollar, I don't know of another car that matches its performance right off the lot. If he didn't want a red light racer, there are a hundreds of other cars to choose from in that same price range.

im not debating the performance of the srt-4, but like hell im going to sit here and let a guy with one say he will toast everybody he is the type of owner that my friends who have srt-4s hate. So that being said I still stand by what I said except for the drivetrain dodge fked up.

Im pretty sure that noone would have flamed him if he did'nt starting flaming our car first, and not to mention I did'nt get my car to race. SRT $ is a quick car but the people that drive them are ****. Second he has to role his windows up...if he was going fast and had to put them up, he might cause an accident, which is a safety risk to us all..If he wants to race he can race by bike, which cost alot less then an SRT-4. Im not saying his car isnt quik, I'm just saying he's a ***...did you even read his replies?

I just re-read the first 2 pages to make sure I didn't miss anything. Yes, he is some punk kid who negligently races down public streets.
We are in the "Kill Stories" thread. Everytime a MB loses to a non-MB, people here jump into defense mode and rip on the other persons car regardless of what it is. If its a less expensive car, like in this case, members have to point that out. Conversly, if the car is more expensive, they do the same thing by saying "You paid $xx,xxx more for a car that barely outperformed my car" I can't wait to see a thread where someone with some cazy supercar kills an SLR and see what the responses are going to be.
Granted, we are in a Mercedes forum but we would be delusional to think that every benz outperforms every other car on the road.
You didn't buy your car to race but apparently he bought his so he could.

hhhmmmm....this thread is amusing to say the least.
now i respect ALL types of cars, whether it be a honda or a bentley, as long as they are done tastefully. but it seems that almost every neon driver with a bov seems to downshift next to me and goose the gas. why? i always drive minding my own business, not even driving in and out of lanes, but just cruising along with traffic. so far in a span of two weeks, i've had FIVE neons try and race me. at times right in the middle of traffic! two black, one red, and two silver srt4's. and EVERY one downshifted next to me and goosed the gas so everyone would hear the bov. i just don't understand it. i don't even have honda, subie or mitsu guys doing this, just neon guys. strange.
this quote made me smile. i was on a three lane highway one evening with nobody in sight, and this neon comes up my a$$, then comes up next to me. what does he do? downshifts and gooses the gas. i'm like "not again" as this just happened to me the other day with the red one (didn't race him as we were in the MIDDLE of traffic). so we run twice from about 50-115mph. 1st time i figured i got the jump on him, so we both slow down again and wait till the hwy straightens out. he honks twice, third time i'm floored. by now i can't even hear my car at 5k rpm because of his exhaust and bov. by 115mph he was only about 3 cars behind me. i honestly thought that i would've done better. so we slow down and i try to see who it was and give him props, but he just completely slowed down and got off at the next exit. he ran away like a scared puppy.
do you see me going to neon forums and talking trash? no.

Sorry I could'nt just go home, if you've ever raced someonse and won and had them run away like a scared puppy you would understand how I feel. By the way I didn't follow him he followed me then we stoplight raced the he lost and revved on me then I followed him trying to be nice and give him a second chance.
