Supercharged NSX V/S 1994 E500
hey guys, ive been driving the E500 lately because it just came out of the shop.... again. my friend has a 1995 Acura NSX with a Comptech supercharger, and a Taitacjgtc(sp) exghaust and headers. i have a 94 E500, port/polished (6 month job), renntech ecu, air intake, full cat-back exghaust and Renntech first gear start.
we were just cruzing around PCH, when we decided to race around a little, we started out going 40. we both dropped it, we were even till about 70 and then then the renntech started kicking in, and i slowly pulled away. the car was pulling so fast, it was the first time that I rilly got to open up the E sence the tranny and the port and polish. the first thing that i thought was "this is like those SL55 videos" it trully was pulling that hard and the spedo was going up so fast, no joke. i let off at about 115. at the next light my buddy in his NSX was like "damn mark, that this is fast." it is such a fun car. oh, and the NSX is putting down 350 to the wheels.

That a wonderful car. If I could find one with decent mileage I'd get one as well. Those are one of the best build mercedes ever.

Mark,
Could you talk a little more about the engine work you had done to your 500? Was it just a port and polish? What kind of gains were claimed, and what kind of dyno numbers are you getting? Is there anything else done to the motor? Displacement increase, cams, etc. Who did your catback exhaust? Is it a Y-pipe resonator replacement with a tuner muffler or a full custom? Have you looked into headers at all?
Everybody always underestimates our cars. Sure, they're getting old and aren't as quick as they used to be, but they'll still surprise people once the engine gets up on its cams.

From a dead stop? I think you're right, the blown NSX would get the jump, and it's questionable whether the 500 would be able to make up the difference.

And as the speeds climbed, the NSX's weight advantage would gradually become less significant than the 500's torque advantage. So it's conceivable.

the powerband of my E5 is in the higher top end. at 3750 RPM is when you start to feel the big pull. so off the line, it is not too fast. you are right.

gains clamed? i dont know.
the catback exghaust was a custome job. no ress, very small cats, and a muffler. ive looked into headers but i cant find any, and a cumstome head job would cost to much.
i laso put Bosch Racing fuel injs.but they were fludding teh engine, so i went back to stock (wich were still good)
we sent the port and polish to a guy in East Coast, some hot-rod racing guy. i forgot his name. when the engine was toarn apart, we changed most of the hosess and seals (most of which were un-necessary because the car only has 83K on it)but we figured "now then later"
