I have a 03 zo6 vette with pro charger and the works with about 700 hp,one of my best friend has a 00 viper with blower and the works,and make something in the vicnity of 700+hp.We live about 3 hours apart,and race our car against each other every chance we get.
At the latter part of last year we decided to get two affordable european cars.
I purchased an 03 e55,and upon receipt,the following day i sent off for k1 thru k4 parts.The car was up and running within a week,and i was killing everyone with my k4 e55 which i swore up and down was stock.(the local ford and chevy guys,had no clue how fast the e55 ran).
M y friend then asked me if my car was really stock...(i lied and said it was)
Only me ,God,and my mechanic knew that i was not stock......and i intended to keep that secret to my grave,unless i sell the car.
One day i recieve a call from my friend who asked....guess what i just purchased?Thinking i new the answer...i said ...an e55? He said no....a 2001 996 tt.The phone went silent for a minute.......Then he said ......what do you think ?I said great car,that probally would be my next purchase.
Then he said the magical word....meet me half way so we can see how they do against each other stock for stock.He needed to say no more.
I got to the racing spot to see his hood up,and him waiting for me,so i did likewise and pop my hood,for my engine to cool.
We deciced to go from a 20mph roll,we both hit at the same time,just as i thought with 580 foot pound of torque i was pulling him from down low,he let out and i went on to win.
He asked to do it again,but being the sportsman that i am,i accepted his challenge,again we rolled at the same speed,i let him hit before me then try to catch him.......hell something is wrong here i am not catching him plus he is steadely pulling away from me.We came through the light with me a full car behind him ,and not gaining an inch.
At the end of the race,he had this puzzled look on his face,just like i did.I Was thinking....how could a stock 415hp 996tt .This car is going in the classified tomorrow.Then he said.........i dont want this car,i am going to sell it..........i cant believe i can only beat a stock e55 by only one car with my modded 600rwhp 996tt.I looked at him and said i am not exactly stock myself.
We tried it a third time,and i won,not b/c i was faster ,but he burned out his clutch,and did not complete the race.
Do i think my car is faster than the 996tt?not even close....my car is just easier to drive,while he has to mess around with third gear.

 

Holy Crap. That is an awesome story haha. I can't believe your friends turbo was modded and you thought it wasn't, I was thinking the same thing until I got to that part. I was like.... Nice runs.

are you going to get the new Z06? and mod it as well?

 

I thoight about selling my current c5/zo6 z06,and purchasing a c6/z06,but as good as a corvette runs and handles,they are all a piece of crap.There is allways pieces falling off,or ratteling...........maybe i will buy a T/T 997.

I've got a modded 996TT and modded Benz.

My 996TT makes 640AWHP and the Benz makes 545RWHP & 740RWTQ.

From a roll the 996TT will always walk the Benz because of the big HP to weight gap. The Benzes always fare much better out of the hole because of their ridiculous torque numbers. FWIW my 996TT traps at 136mph in the 1/4

 

Thats it....... i am going to buy a 996TT,as soon as i can find one at a decent price...

C6 Z06 should be a bit better in quality than the C5, but its still a Chevy. You get for what you pay. I still think the c6 Z06 is the best bang for the $$, but if money is not an issue.... P Cars 100%

 

I agree with you.....the zo6 is definately the best bang for the buck,but the quality is still substandard in terms of quality.

 

TOPGUN32 this may sound crazy,but i think i am going to try that 996tt again this weekend.I send my ECU to Kleemann to take a little fuel out on top,hoping this will give me a little umph on the top side.I stay ahead of him on the low side,even with his 4x4 it was only on top that he pulled me.I figure with my k4,i should be real close to his x50 package.
Can you tell me about how much rwhp a x50 pkg should make?
