slk 55 vs. c55
First few weeks of having this car in london, and so far all i get is angry drivers, trying to **** me.... anyways..
A c55 pulls up next to me in Central london, speed limits 30, but no police really roam out streets past 10 in resedential areas.. so anyways hes some old guy.. lights go orange, he speeds off without warning and pulls ahead of me, i step on it and it roars, takes 3-4 seconds to pull ahead of him... we then break for the lights, and he overdoes it... pulling past the line, police is on the intersection and sees his car over-hit the line, they light it up and come talk to him, as he reverses back into the lane... hes pointing over at me as i make it round the bend at a good 10 mph...
I thought AMGs should be nice to one another, but some people think otherwise !!!

OLD: 2004 C230 Sport Sedan, NEW: 2007 SLK350
LOL.. I looked at the topic title and thought it was one of my threads..
I test drove a brand new SLK55 AMG recently, and absolutely loved it...
but I still want a sport sedan (my first Merc was a 2005 C230 Sport Sedan), so I am also looking at the C55 AMG.
Now having compared the specs, the C55 and the SLK55 both have the same same 0-60 speed, right? They both have a 5.4L V-8 engine, and the C55 has a little more hp. But then again, the C55 engine has to lug around a 4-door sedan, while the SLK55 has less to move.
Anyway, I'll be sure not to be mean to SLK55 owners when I get my C55.
Heck, if I could afford to Mercs, I would get both.

I don't know.. but there are upshift/downshift buttons behind the steering wheel of the SLK55 AMG.. is that what you're calling the 7G Tronic transmission?
When I press the button on the left, it shifts to a lower gear, and the right button shifts to a higher gear..
Haven't driven the C55 yet, but will do so when I go back to the dealer...

the C55 has 10 more hp but I'd say that it's just a rating and if actually dyno'd they would be the same. The SLK55 does use the new 7G and the C55 uses the older 5 speed. Both have shift buttons on the backside of the steering wheel. I'd say it be a close race but the SLK should edge ahead.

Only a lightly modded C55 (filters, resonator, pullies and ECU) can touch that..
either way... it will come down to the driver if they know how to launch and reaction time.

Id be scared ****less to race in london, with a speed camera on every corner, no way. Im nice to AMG's, altho I am not nice to 320/350s 430s/500s that think they are tuff **** =D

Yes, C55s run a 13.2 quarter, SLK55s run a 12.7 quarter. The SLK has a 7 spd tranny that keeps it in its powerband longer & it weighs about 150 lbs less (more than nullifying the minimal 7 Hp advantage the C has over the SLK...362 Hp to 355 Hp).
