SLK55 vs Jag S-Type R
Finally a car worth racing and somone willing!!! Actually, i wasn't expecting the race as the guy in the Jag R was about 65 and gave ZERO indication...
So, Ventura Blvd and Erwin heading north, we are both at the stoplight. Light turns green, me not expecting he takes off! I hammer it 3/4 of a sec later and since im only about 1m from my house the tires are very cold and jsut spin
...
Even spinning through first and part of second he only pulled 1 car length, finally the SLK55 hooks up at about 35mph and i real him in and pull 3/4 of a length on him up to 60...
Had i been ready and had a good hook-up it wouldn't have have been a match, but it was nice to be behind and feel the SLK55 pull hard and reel him in in <30 mph!!!

good one...
i have seen a few, but they have stayed away.
I'm not sure how many tuners are out there for Jaguar brand, but most of the R's I see, seem stock. Even down to the wheels.
I bet with a simple pulley and chip that car can be really fun. Too bad the interior reminds me of a FORD. LOVE the outside, but the interior is not up to par.

Falco,
I know what you mean when you say, "Finally a car worth racing and somone willing!" I'm always willing to beat or get beat by a worthy car. A friend of mine works near an owner of a Ferrari 430. He has 'raced' him multiple times with his G35. Granted, he knows he'll get beat bad, but the 430 owner does it just for fun. I always take the longer route to his work, hoping I will 'accidentally' run into the 430 owner and take a stab at it. I fully expect to lose, but I'd love the challenge.
I have several friends that own modified STi's and Evo's. They assumed that I would get a bunch of people challenging me on the road. Fact is, no one ever challenges me. I guess that's a good thing but I sure wish someone would try now and then.
BTW, this is OT, but shrink the width or your signature pics a little. I have my screen set to the common 1024x768 resolution. Your signature always stretches the posts enough where I have to use the slide bar. I am way too lazy to do that.

I took on an S-type-r coming on to slip road from a roundabout - we were both doing about 40 when he started pulling, we joined the motorway with me 2 car-lengths behind and by 90 we were side by side as I moved to the outside laneand he stayed to the inside. By 120 I was ahead by a length and slowly pulling away.
Good race and very pleasant/polite driver.

I've never been beaten in my stock S-Type R
I've never, ever been beaten in my bone stock 2003 S-Type R. Oh wait, it may have to do with the fact that no will ever race me. I think people think that they're faster than they really are. Yes they have 400 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque but man is this thing heavy. My 2004 E500 seems just as fast. Stop light to stop light. Don't get me wrong, this thing is a BEAST.
BTW - The Jag is for sale!

My 2003 S-type R has been mechanically sound. It did have a tranny problem similar to the one documented on the new 7 speed tranny from MB. Just a bit of a harsh 2-1 downshift. But it was taken care of with a software update. Other than that, this thing has been great. Just the normal minor annoyances that people like us tend to complain about. Rattle here, creak there, blah blah blah. But Jaguar is #1 for like 5 years in a row for customer service and their pre-owned program. I'm gonna hate getting rid of it but it's a 3rd car that's just taking up space in the garage. Garage space that's much needed for my new 2004 E500. My first MB and loving it so far!

I've grown to really like the look of the S Type R. If I was in the market for a second vehicle, a fully loaded used one with low mileage for $30k would get me moving. Gotta love the horrible resale value!

A Beater
I whipped a Gallardo in my C55 but I really think he either missed a gear or he is too scared to take it up to 150mph on the street. I also took him in my fully modified Sti with ease.
