SL600 vs. G35

Had another round of highway tag tonight. Well, actually this didn't happen for certain obvious reasons.

Anyway, jumped on the parkway for a nice relaxing cruise and see the grayish blur fly by me almost immedietely after. I switch lanes and push a little to catch up to the guy. Doing about 80ish, I am pacing this G35 coupe who is probably doing 85-90. He see's me on his *** and pushes hard but I match his throttle and stick to him. Right lane clears and I merge to get a shot at passing him. Merge, hit it, and pull ahead several lengths (a Saab Turbo convertible was also playing but a little behind us). Realizing that I am going a little too fast, I coast back down to 80 and weave through some other traffic. About 1/2 mile later, when the road is clear again, I see the G35 coming hard once again, he has a one length advantage when I hit it and after a brisk acceleration run, I once again pass him and gain several lengths. Well, my exit is coming up and as I go to flash a thumbs up he passes by very fast and keeps going. Oh well.

The G35

Well they seem to have sold millions of those G35's and I can't even count how many have wanted to race me. Didn't think it was worth the time. Tonight I had someone in a PT Cruiser that had more plastic added on to it in places I would never have dreamed of along with the weed eater sounding exhaust canon want to race. I let him take off at the light. I didn't accelerate for several seconds give him time to get a couple of car lengths ahead of me.

I saw the rustiest Ford Escort with TWO coffee can exhausts. I wanted my dad to toy with him in the ML, but no.

Are you kidding? I love that thing...

Sure, I lost to some coffee-can "ricers" but I was still rolling in a Benz!

Because most of G35 Coupe drivers are douchebags.

Two guys in my school have them, one is a buddy of mine. He shares my passion of fast cars and likes to have a little fun too lol. They make respectable power and are pretty quick cars off the line, but on the highway, the M120 pulled it nicely.

Don't get me wrong, the PT Cruiser has a cool little retro design going, but they certainly aren't road runners.

If that guy's G35 was stock (or close), he was an idiot for even trying.

Yeah, I know all about the G35 drivers as I have one and belong to the G35drivers.com.

Most of the owners are in the mid twenties and came from the old Maxima crowd, and the rest came from the ex-Honda ricer club since they are a little older and can afford something more than a Civic. So when they see anything remotely interesting, they want to race. Believe me, they beat me up on the board all the time how my SL is called "Super Slow". Those boy racers have no clue what a good car is all about. Let alone what a sport car should be. They think beating someone from one red light to another is life.

True, and in it's class, it's not a bad car afterall. At 300hp w/ a 6MT it's no slacker, just not SL600 territory.

The G looks pretty cool also.....I'd def take one over a 350Z.

I had the advantage being on the highway, where the car shines. Off the line, it would be very close due the low weight of the G35. A C5 Vette (much much lighter) would take me off the line, but that didn't stop me from taking one down on the highway.

The G35 has a better rear and much nicer interior, but the 350Z has the better front end IMHO. Actually, come to think of it, I see maybe 3-4X more G35's than 350Z's on the road.

Nice C55, BTW.

lol - G35 against an SL600........ nice kill.

I don't know what's wrong with me but all I've had is a 350Z, CLK500 and a TL race me. Still waiting for my first encounter with a E46/E90 330i.

Thank you. How did you do against the CLK500? Both that and the C350 you drive are surprisingly quick cars.

95% of all G35 coupe owners are guidos, and live in the tri-state. I see about 6-10 g35s every 3/4 mile down the road (both sedan and coupe). There are on average 5 parked on my street in brooklyn a lone. Great Kill.

Thanks bro. I saw a white one driven by some young Asian guy with bodywork and exhaust in a local town. One lane street 25 MPH zone and I was driving the ML350 behind him. It sounded loud and I wished we were on the highway; it would be fun to hear that exhaust at full throttle. The only aggresive G35 sedan driver I have ever seen was some young girl I was behind. Ran right through an intersection flipping the other drivers off lol.

20+ to list......
If a G35 with twin turbo setup, then it's worth a quick run, other than that, garbage.

I used to like G35's until every guido in the tri-state area made me hate them. They'll blow past you at 90 in heavy traffic and flash their hazards like they just crushed you in a heads-up highway pull, even if you never hit the gas. Its terminally pathetic behavior and I wish someone would give them the memo.

Down the shore? Forget about it, these guys think they're pushing Enzo's.

Ditto!

I have seen a TT 350z blow the doors off a C6 Z06 on a highway pull

don't beleive me...

http://videos.streetfire.net/search/...ba3ff9ba0d.htm

I used to have a G35 sedan for my wife.. very nice torque engine and really nice transmission. The handling was better than my C32, but the ride was very stiff.

Interior sucked and the paint was horrible.

Superchargers and TT set ups are cheap and you have to be careful if you run into a TT car.

I agree, most G35 coupe owners think they have 400hp under the hood. I have raced a 6sp when I was stock from a 60 roll. No contest. I was ahead by 5 cars around 110mph.

it seemed like whoever got the jump slowly pulled but we never got a really even pull. I think if it was all even, we'd be pretty close until the speeds got up and he'd probably edge away.

And another thing. Most G35 drivers think they are driving a Skyline. That is such a joke reading their own padding on the backs.

Technically it is a Skyline, just not a GTR however. There's a world of difference.
