I hate trying to race with the human rev limiter in the passenger's seat. I always get "Are you trying to kill me!!!???" Sometimes its hard to answer that question!

Unhappy

Why do I always get someone trying to race me when my wife is present?
And wife is a much, much riskier proposition to try shut her up then a girlfriend.....

Thumbs up

Awesome read, LEXANI !

I just got a '07 CLS63 AMG...I am very interested in seeing how the "back to roots" normally aspirated engine will hang with the CL65!?!? any thoughts? Mine weighs 4210lbs...wondering what I could do to get the weight down...

Anyway, please post results if you get up against a car like mine...thanks!

The SL or CL600 would also waste the 63 pretty badly too.

agreed....the 63's are putting down mid to low 13.50-13.30 in the 1/4.
The 65 AMG's are running 11.8xx out of the box stock Each tenth of a second equates roughly to 1 car length during a race, you get the picture it would be a sluaghter

Some of you guys need to upgrade your chicks.

My wife LOVES when I race (its not that often but I do on occasion if someone is being a pest and/or its a slick car). What is up with some of your babes? I say you live once & are driving a quick car - might as well have a run now & then as long as its safe (nobody in the vicinity/road is clear & you slow right back down) & doesn't become a "daily" habit. Just my opinion I guess.

Thanks man!

Unfortunatly, I have not had the oppurtunity to run against the new 63s. I gather it would put up a fight, seeing as off the line (to 60 at least), it can pretty much WOT with no worries about traction, while Goliath has to struggle with the Everest torque figures it puts down-- a victim of it's own success.

Anyhow, if I ever run into one, you'll be the first to know!

Racing is a love-hate thing. Some people hate it because they A) can't participate because they do not have a fast car, B) they lost someone to street racing, or C) speeding is not in their vocabulary. It's not a matter of upgrading girlfriends or wives, it's a matter of self preference.

Everyone agrees, we live once-- what we might not agree on is whether or not this race is worth the worst possible outcome: loss of life. And if the life is not your own, why would you make decisions for them?

My .02 cents... no pun intended.

Anyhow, I agree with you-- if its a long straight road, no vehicles ahead, no potential dangers in sight-- go for it! But some people... ricers in particular, they like to do it fast and furious style, switching lanes at fast speeds, cutting off trailers, just really wreckless maneuvers. That, I'm not okay with...

Off topic, but I'm curious, which vehicle is faster-- your RX-7, or the K55 S7? I assume the RX-7 is lighter, no? Just wondering, thanks!

no pun intended...

Would and ecu upgrade be far less $$$ then to strip all the seats and replace the others with carbon fibre for the weight savings? how much weight savings will really affect the power to weight ratio and how much in ponies does it really reflect with that given amount of weight? I would think modding the car ecu or engine mod which gives extra ponies level out as if you were to reduce weight of your car. I don't know if you were just saying that for a story or you really intend to do that to the back seats and etc.

BTW: nice kill.. it really makes one feel nice when you can shed smoke and rubber and leave an F430 exotic Ferrari behind you. Very nice writeup. Expecting more stories soon .. plwease....

Unknown...have never run one against the other. They are likely pretty close though Lex.

What's a K55 S7? And how would it tie with 100 more wheel horsepower?

Read my sig? A K55 S7 (in this case) is an SLK55 with Kleemann's Stage 7 installed.

The RX-7 weighs 2700 lbs ..... ~700 less than the SLK (and the dyno numbers on the RX-7 were on a heat soaked motor after an hour & half of dyno tuning). Its pretty sprite.

Well, for one, yes I was being serious. Weight-reduction is something I would love to try, and the benefits of it far surpass that of a simple ECU re-flash or Exhaust exchange. I visited Mercedes-Benz of Laguna Niguel and noticed the CLK DTM. An identical vehicle in every aspect to the CLK55 AMG... minus the back seats and most unnecessary equipment. It boasts a powerful 574 HP powerplant with 590 lbs of torque. It's untouchable. The Enzo would have a hard time running against it. Now imagine, the same weight weilded by a more potent V12 Twin Turbo, churning out 612 ferocious ponies and to further accommodate the slightly insane, 738 lbs of tire shredding torque. Get the BIG picture?

And what's more, imagine the same weight of the CLK DTM in the CL65 PLUS a Stage xx RENNtech.

The benefits of weight reduction are nearly limitless, from better cornering (which an ECU CAN NOT provide), to faster rolling starts and dead start acceleration, AND, my favorite, the improved MPG which can be gained.

Anyhow, to clarify, yes I was serious. I'm just looking around for somewhere to do it, and honestly, I'm not in any type of rush.

I hope this clarified why I mentioned it.

Stage 2 C7 A6, QX60
I actually saw 2 F430 and a RollsRoyce(don't know if I spell right) Park right next to each other yesterday.
and I believe they all belong to the same owner, he also had like 911 turbo, F360.
I don't know what other cars he has, but that's all I've seen, my friend also told me that he has the F1 model of F360.
