Ever Run Away From the PoPo?

So, Ive owned my E55 for almost a year now...acually it will be a year next month Anyways...All the speeding tickets Ive ever got were from the OH SO LOVING CHP (California Highway Patrol)...Ever since the 55, Ive always mouthed off to my friends saying if I were ever to see a CHP come after me I would hit the pedal and not look back...Ive always wanted to do this, for the rush and just to put it in a cops face...like BYE BYE ...I dont know if it came down to it weather id have the big ***** do it or not...So the reason I wanted to post is...

I was wondering, has anyone ever atempted to ditch the cops...if so what were the results...Id love to hear ANY story...

Id also like thoughts, and concerns about doing it if it ever came down to it...chances of getting away, chances of getting caught, the results, and so on...Lets see What we can build up here....

Let them RIPPPPPP

running away

I know for a fact its possible. I was in the car going to a good friends of ours house for a graduation party for his brother. (He graduated from CAL) He drove a 2006 STI and abused the car every chance he got. We Both saw the cop we both knew for a fact that he was getting a ticket because he was easily going 55 in a 35. For the people in socal that live around long beach know that on ball going West you will hit EL Dorado park and the street goes through the middle of the park and that park is 45 so everyone goes 50+ but right when you get over this hill at the end of the park it goes to 35 and not to many people slow down. Anyways a cop was at the first neighborhood street as soon as you get over the hill. (on the left) So like i said we both knew we were done for and he had to wait a couple seconds for the traffic to clear so he can get across the road to our side. And those couple of seconds gave us the time to get into the neighborhood and ditch the cop. Even though my friend was going down a residential street at a high speed while turning at high speeds with out looking was really dangerous (because kids easily could of been out and ran into the street) It was by far one of the funnist rides i have ever been in. We got away and drove slowly to our friends house. You have 6 minutes to get away during a chase before air support comes in. On a freeway i really dont think you have a chance. Unless you have NOS or something that will boost you far ahead of the cop..On the streets anything can happen. If you do get caught say good bye to your car your DL and you will be paying big fines with jail time. Maybe an over night stay maybe longer. And i think if you get the air support called in you have to pay for that also.
P.S. If your going to run make sure you have no back or front plates. All my friend had was the window sticker from the dealer.
Good luck to whoever the next brave soul may be.

I think air support would take longer than 6 minutes, but I'm not so sure myself.

As for not having front or back plates? Who the hell does that? You'd get pulled over for that immediately...

When I was like 16 or 17, My cousin and I went to a friends house to drink and smoke a lil. When we left, I was toooo Drunk to drive, so my cousin took the wheel. We were also taking two girls home. In the trunk, I had 3 open bottles, and about an ounce of the good stuff.
So were driving about 55-60 through the canyons @ about 2:00 in the morning. My cousin spots a bike pig sitting there waiting for some idiot like ourselves. Soon as he sees the pig, he floors it ( at the time I had a 98 Maxima ) Were going about 60 on this big turn. The cop is following, but pretty far back. As we get to the end of the turn, What are the chances, there is a red light with two cars waiting for it to turn green. We slam on our brakes,(Nissan Brakes Blow) the brakes lock up and we hit this Mustang so bad, that the mustang rolled forward into the bumper of the ML in front of it. Straight through the bumper.

Literally, a minute later, the cop finally makes it down, and to say the least, he wasnt really happy. He told my cousin, People like you shouldnt be driving.
Luckily we had these girls with us, who happened to live about a couple of blocks away, and the cop I guess just didnt think about searching the car End result was, Both the Mustang and ML had to be towed away, and our car was the only one that got to drive home that night (granted it was messed up pretty bad ). He gave him Wreckless driving, and a few other infractions

Oh, those were the days

i mean it is possible, depending on the situation

i have been speeding and saw a cop going the other way and ditched down a side street, speed up to get down another street before he could turn around and whatnot, so it is technically not evading, but if you are going one way and he is sitting there and tags you speeding and pulls out behind you a second later and you run

yeah, be ready to get your a$$ handed to you by him and maybe a few others, loose your license for a while, car impounded + storage and other fees, at least a night in jail, they have 72 hours to charge you here in MO, and i would say in other places too........ morale of the story is, it doesn't take big ***** to do it, it takes stupidity and lack of care for anyones saftey to try

Never had to run from the cops but my cousin is an NJ state trooper. According to him they won't even chase you if you're doing 120+, they just mathematically will never catch you, but they will radio ahead.

1993 Cutlass Ciera SL w/ 3300 Buick Engine
back on my early days of "Wanna-be street racer"
my first car happened to be a 97 eclipse ....
and for what i remember, i used to spend just about every
paycheck on suiting up the car (i went for the whole stage 2 package)
headers, intake, cat back exhaust, body kit, CF hood, 19" wheels, tein SS suspension, engine swap with an Evo 7, and my good ol' bottle of dry NOS ...
As some of you from the SFV area might know
there's car gatherings every Thursday night at a couple of spots
(Porter Ranch, and Northridge) and this one night, the whole "team"
managed to show up (called Red Line - from north Hollywood)
for our luck, the leader, happened to bring a hatchback
(full JDM with a V-tech swap) and some other guy from a different Team
apparently wanted a challenge (blue WRX Sti) but since nothing could happen
there we decided to take it out to the city of San Fernando.
We get there and out of nowhere i ask my friend if he'd race me with his Hatchback, he says yes, but since we were good friends, there wasnt any money involved ... (we were the first race of the night) the guy with the camera stands in between both cars along with the flagger .. soon enough, we take off.... of course he beats me for about an inch (the video appears as if we tied, but im not a sore looser) anyways, .... as we turn around, we see a couple of cars turning into the street from the left .... then we see one more from the right .... as we were next to each other, my friend just signals me to floor it .... so i do .... at this point we're driving towards what we knew by now where cops ... (i was sh*tting bricks since my wife didnt know i was even there, far less, what i was doing) then my friend makes a hard right almost hitting the cop and of course i follow .... from here all i remember was hearing the helicopter and seeing my speedometer go up to 126 ... (thats a lot for being on the street) i look in to my rear view mirror while trying to catch up to my friend and all i see is a couple of lights following us ....
we drive as fast as we can with complete disregard to public safety and even our own ... my friend makes a second hard right but this time we were topping speeds close to 149 ..... i look at my mirror again, but this time there were no more lights following us ..... still shaking we manage to pull over into a 7-11 ..... neither my friend or I could get off our cars .... i couldnt feel my legs nor my hands ... it took him about 15 minutes to finally come out of his car and walk to mine just to tell me ... "Dammmmm, did we just do that" ...
we talked for another 3 minutes, then hopped into the 118 ... to never come back again .... next day we found out the helicopter followed the STI, which of course got impounded, along with another green hatchback ....as for me, that was the last of my street racing days .....
so yes, it is possible to run away from the cops, but not only do you need a very fast car, must importantly .... a b*tt load of luck ...

HAHAH LOOOL

As for needing a fast car, Im not sure what you mean by fast, but I drive an 06-E55...by the looks of the posts it seems that it would be easier to run away in the city from cops, then it would be on the freeway/highway from a CHP or a state trooper

I did run away from a cop once, but totaly forgot about it, I dont have any crazy story about hitting other cars while doing it or about to hit cop cars...but I was once driving on sunset blvd going about 60 in a 35, and a cop is going opposite of me...he see's me & turns his lights on to bust a U turn...but as soon as I see his lights go on, I punched it HOME was only about a minute away or about 7 blocks....I hit about 100 turn into my street, punch it down, turn into my driveway ...10-15 seconds later the cop flys by....lol I was in a CL500...

This wasnt in a car, but I was like 14-15 and ridding my Honda XR100 to a friends down the street like a few blocks and a squad comes up with the lights so I just punch it cut through a park and I am gone! Also have many times on foot from when we would TP or toss snow ***** at cars. Never got caught then and they would have 5 or 6 squads out looking for a group of 5+ kids.

Well I know a kid that did it 4 times in his honda civic. His little honda was stock 4 banger and would get rapped by an ML320 in a strait line. He would drive 60-70 mph in 45 zones all the time thinking it was cool. I would always hear stories about how he ran from cops that tried to pull U turns and flip the lights on and how he would go park in random peoples driveways down side street until the cops passed... Well how I know this is true on the 4th time he was close to home and tried to park in his driveway and run into the garage but 2 cops had their guns pulled out before he could get his car door open. Anyways one of my buddies lives 4 houses down and saw all this happen right after school and the kid got arrested and occasionally I will see him sitting at the bus stop and this happened 4 years ago. (Rumor is he got a DUI and totaled his car and thats why he rides the bus).

Thats funny .... I already have 2 stupid misdemeanors on my record lol funny stories too...I got a Speeding ticket on my way to morongo casino near palms springs, never went to court, had a warrant out, and luck would have it got stoped by a cop 1 day for tinted windows and he ran my licence and I got arrested STUPID...another time I had Military Mase I dont know if any one has seen these but its the size of a mini fire extinguisher so thats HUGE lol...and I had a police batton, as well as brass nuckles...DONT ASK...lol
So I got arrested for those....Ahhhhhhh...Im not sure if im willing to get arrested again just to see if I can ditch the cops for fun...But if I was in the moment maybe Id just do it, JUST TO SAY I DID

In the mid-80s, this happened twice. Once I was driving (100+ in a 35)...copper tried a u-turn, but never caught me in the 440 Chrysler is was in. I was only blocks from home, so this was an easy getaway.

The other was when I was a passenger in by buddies new SVO. The local cops had 6-cyl. Ford Fairmonts....it wasn't even fair. Two turns and we were gone, until we slid on the ice through a T-intersection and got the car hung up on a small mound of snow. We jetted and for the next 3 hours, we were freezing our butts off in a doghouse in someone's backyard (January in Colorado). They did a door-to-door, but never found us. They conveniently towed his car home and he got busted later....

That is actually not true. My sister got her car a year ago. It is a 03 C230 and she bought it used and it didnt come with plates when she bought the car and just had a window sticker. She has her plates in her room and still has not put them on yet. But does have the window sticker in the front. I also have a friend that HAD an evo9 (roommate crashed it) he never put his plates on and had the car for about 6 months but he also had an Evo 8 before that (traded that in for the 9) he never put his plates on that either. If you get a paper plate from a dealer and put it on your car i can almost promise youll never get pulled over for not having the plates on the car. But if you get pulled over for speeding or tint or something like that you will have some explaining to do.

TRUE...I had my paper plates on for 5 months till I got stoped for tinted windows, I also got a no plate ticket...But a friend has had his car for 2 years no plates, and has never been stoped for it ...So If your cars an eye catcher for the cops (rims, tints, and all the good stuff) chances are your getting stoped and hes gana blame it on anything...so I just keep my plates on. you know whats the worst, getting stoped for no front plate OMG, Ive had 2 tickets for that once I got pulled over for it, and once they left it on my window like a parking ticket...My cousin stays in MIAMI, He says its not the law to have your front plate on, and its ok to tint every freakin window, He says even the cop cars are tinted....

I strongly considered running once. I was flying on a back road near my parents house. I was going around 65 in a 40mph zone. I rounded this corner only to see a town cop turning into someones driveway. He saw me barrel assing at him and he must have **** his pants. I came pretty close to side swiping him. I knew right away I was gonna get busted. My parents house was less than a mile away. I thought....should I go for it?.......I chickened out. I slowed down to the speed limit and waited for the town cop to catch up....sure enough there he was with lights flashing. I pull over and he asks "do you know how fast you were going?" I said "I think 45"....ha ha
He said "try higher" He ran my license and plates and came back with a warning.....just a verbal warning. All he said was....."slow it down."
I was probably 100 yards from my driveway. I just don'y have the ***** for that stuff. Of course I was in my first car....a 1989 Mercury Sable. No way I'm getting away in that POS. But the cop had to make a U turn in that person's driveway....if I only full throttled it I probably would've made it.

I still today think if I"m ever on the road and I see a cop bust a U turn I should just hammer it and duck down a side road. I'd still chicken out. LOL

Let me get this straight....

You drive a $80,000 car.... And to save 200 bucks on a speeding ticket and maybe a few hundred more in insurance premiums, you violate CVC 2800 2(a) which carries a sentance of three years in prison and a $10,000 fine (and you WILL get caught.... You cant outrun a radio, and in a city like Los Angeles there is NOWHERE for you to hide, and the prosecutor WILL insist on Jail time because of the high profile "police chases" have had in the past few years) and put everybody on the roads life at risk?

Which if you DO hurt somebody, (or the OFFICER hurts somebody) you will be spending the next seven years getting your colon enlarged upstate....

Genius.

I read somewhere that most evaders follow the same psychological driving pattern: first turn is a righthand turn, and second will be a lefthand turn.

The cops also know this and may anticipate it.

Just a handy tip for you felons.

1987 E300 TD
Jeffrey's Sheriff Story:
Leaving 7-11 w/ 40oz. Cherry Slurpee waiting for a gap to gun it out of the parking lot for a little fun. The gap comes, I floor the pedal, and I'm launching out of the parking lot w/ a little smoke (Diesel Exhaust + Tires). Sheriff comes down the road in the opposing traffic, I slow down, it's to late he asw me and turns on his little lights. I floor it again knowing I can get away in my 1999 E300 TD as long as he's still on the other side of the road. So I'm flying away 'It felt like it going through long dips' and before I turn off the main road I see him barley in my rear view mirror just turning around to get me. Well...I went back to school and finished my slurpee w/o a ticket! So long story short, don't run from the cops unless you know you can get away w/o worries! Hope there are no sheriff helicopters in the air when you decide to run.....purchase a '10 Channel Direct Entry Programmable Scanner' and listen in before you do something crazy.

Oh.... Im impressed now....
if you read it I was asking about the rush,
What rush? Seriously, if you are contemplating a Felony for a "Rush" you need your head examined.... I hear Bank Robbery is quite exhilarating.... You going to give it a shot next?

and just to say I did it,
Theres a dumb reason to do something.

not to save $200 lol, and its more like $350 not that it makes a diffrence,

and the 3 years in prison Ill let me lawyer handle that, $10,000 fine? hey if its worth it, Ill pay it
Your lawyer isnt going sit in jail for you, sport....

The FACT is, if you run from the police, and get caught, life as you currently know it is OVER. If you enjoy making your own decisions, such as WHEN TO GET UP, WHAT TO EAT, and WHO YOU WILL ALLOW TO SODOMIZE YOU... you should probably consider getting your kicks another way.

For me, it would take a HELL of a lot more than a potential "rush" or being able to brag to my friends that I did it (hmmm.... My friends would not be at all impressed by this.... isn't that strange?) to risk the next 7 years in PRISON.... And despite the fact that I will "only live once" I think living it outside the confines of the California Department of Corrections might just be more fun....
