Hardly...I think if anyone is trying to stir up anything its you by implying falsely that we are pissed off....Lets deal with facts not emotional nonsence...I would hardly expect a 20 year old bone stock 420 sel to even have a chance against any modern sportscar..Yes even a straightline slow one like the 350z..Modded its anybodies game..Sounds like CHP has a modded 420 if I read correctly in his recent post....First post I dont think he mentioned that so I assumed his was factory stock...After reading CHP last post I will not be taking older Benz's lightly anymore Hey any car can be modded or have one of those monster Benz motors in it....Learn something new everyday...

BTW Chp "official" numbers are almost always waaay off what the Vehicle is capable of...Those numbers you quoted are around the old 287hp Z's numbers..3404??lol thats the convertible model thats heavy like that...Depending on model it can be as light as 3160[base]..No one is bashing the Benz so dont know where the hostility is coming from...

Lets see the 420SEL has over 320lb/tq and over 320HP..... And I do get out enough and a 350Z running below a 13.8 is approaching M3 numbers and my old M3 would rape 350Z's. I even believe we have a few E350 vs 350z kill stories here also..

But what do you expect the 350Z crowd can beat anything.. Its a street race ladies and gentlemen anything can happen, I raped a C6 in my E46 M3 multiple times from a stop of course he didnt know how to drive but thats part of what makes a car fast is the driver.

350Z drivers please do not PM me I dont want to hear the crap about how I am biased against the 350Z..

Where are these numbers coming from? I haven't found any figures from any 1986 Benz, Euro or not, with that horsepower rating. Even the 560SEL was rated at only 279 horsepower, and that was in 1987; here's a Euro test of an '87 560SEL from Auto Motor und Sport:

I mean, a 0-62mph time of 7.8s and a 15.6s 400m (1/4 mile) isn't exactly a threat to a 5.5/14.1 car, and again this was the more-powerful 560SEL, not the 420SEL...so unless this thing has been very heavily modded to that era's AMG levels of performance, it would have no chance.

Even the 1989 AMG 300CE 6.0, with 385 hp, wasn't hugely faster than a 350Z:

Now, from a roll this thing would pull a 350Z for sure; it has about a 7.4 (factoring in the extra 0.2-0.3 that is typical from 60-62 mph) 60-100 mph split, while the Z has about 8.6. This would be a walk, though, not a run.

So, if he's got this thing at those levels of horsepower, it's possible, but that's a huge increase over stock. Must have cost a ****load to get it there, if true!

ooo good point I was looking up the wrong car specs... My bad... But still on the road anything goes it take a lot of power to pull on a car that is going WOT even if your car has a ton of power.. For example if I went WOT on my ML320 and slightly after that my buddy went WOT in his Z28 it would still take a while for him to pull even and pass me. ( I bring up the ML since it has similar specs to the 420SEL)

Also another time I was following another buddy of mine in his GTI 1.8t and I was right behind him in the M3, he floored it taking a left turn and it took a good distance and speed for me to pull up next to him since he got that few seconds WOT advantage on me.

Oh, yeah, absolutely....nothing gives you an advantage like a good ol' fashioned head start! If you've got a mid 15 car vs. a mid 14 and the mid 15 guy hops on it around a second sooner (and a second isn't much in terms of reaction time, the car's electronics to react to a stomp, etc, all of which snowball rather quickly), bang! You've got a mighty embarrassed mid-14 second car owner!

And from roll-ons at 60 mph, say if you've got your windows up, sunroof closed, and turn off the AC, you can pull a guy easily who's got sunroof open, windows down, etc...and reaction time can pad the victory.

Yeah, I've experienced this....both ways! Won some, lost some with this... I've tried to discipline myself not to hit it if someone else gets a good head start, because I don't like it when the joke is on me!

You will find that most automatic trannys actually pull faster than the manual variants at higher speeds, unless the driver has lightning fast reaction time and knows which optimal gear to be in.

It was some time ago, so I go had to look it up. One thing to note is that the dyno used was a load based dyno which is good for tuning, but bad for high horsepower numbers.

The 350Zs who previously dynoed in the 250whp range on dynojets were getting roughly 225whp that day.

I had to look it up, but found that I dynoed 235.4 rwhp @ 6785 RPM. Dynojets typically gain +13%whp compared to the dynamics dyno used that day. So on a dynojet, I would have roughly 266whp.

Well dayum I wish he told me that initially.....We did run from 50+ roll several times with what appeared to be closely matched acceleration all the way into the 100+ mph range...If thats the case wish he mentioned that part when we first spoke about it on here....Im far from a guy that cant take the truth...My car aint fast and I know it so please dont take it like some other have to mean I think my car is the fastest on the road....Im far from a ricer so lets not start assuming that becasue I drive a Japanese car I must be one...Used to own Benz and a BMW etc so Im not brand loyal....

In W mode? That starts in 2nd gear! You have no idea what your talking about. I race my bros 04 GTO which runs 13.6 in the 1/4 he only gets me by a car 0-100. Also a similar outcome with my 350z.

I raced a Brand new 350z in my girlfriends 06 Civic Si, and we were nose to nose till third gear. I had a person in the car and he didnt. If I were to post that on here, id probably also get bashed like this guy, so I didnt bother. Point being, the 350z is slower than many of you think. I think anything is possible on the streets, and that day that 420 sel pulled on that Z at those speeds.
