BMW Z4 vs SLK350
On a 2 lane clear straight road, a white BMW Z4 edged me on, so I zoomed forward to keep up with the Z4.
As I effortlessly caught up to him, he continue to move forward in a straight line.
I had been pulled over on this road before, for going 120 mph, but was let off with just a warning... so I definitely didn't want to be pulled over for racing.
As we neared 125mph, I didn't dare pass him. But I kept up, stayed on his right, and a car distance behind. Besides, we were approaching a curve, and I knew there was a traffic light after the curve where I was pulled over last time.
So, I've never gone that fast on a public road, and I really don't want to get myself in trouble. I need to get on the track so that I don't feel tempted to do it in future.
So.... what do you think? Should I have risked it, and sped past him? I was going pretty fast anyway.
Or did I do the right thing by staying behind him at the same speed and then slowing down before the curve? (I think I did the right thing by backing down)
I bet the driver of the Z4 is showing off to his Bimmer friends about how he beat an SLK this morning...

yeah, I just happen to have a relatively decent daily commute (about 25 minutes), through which traffic is almost always moving forward, and then there's this nice stretch of road that's usually empty between 2 traffic lights.
If I stop at the earlier light, I always have a clean stretch of road until the next light.
But back to being responsible... I'll stick to a lower safe speed, and drive within speed limits..

2002 C230 coupe , NOt THE AVATAR!!
could be a Z4M
but if you are already going fast, go all the way.....................................
i raced a SLK32 on my way home, we were going 80-90 MPH on a 35MPH limited zone, anyway, we were parallel together and no one was ahead of anyone.
in the end, there comes a red light.... i have to make a left turn, and he has to make a right. A quick glance on his car, i see SLK32 with no AMG badge on the right side. got me thinking, "is that a poser SLK230 kompressor??" because i am sure a real SLK32 can pass me no problem at all...

It's probably like that CL500 I saw the other day with an AMG badge. Except this guy wen't ahead and put the V8 Kompressor badges on the side as well. He should have at least had the brains to change the CL500 to CL55 or something. It didn't even have the sport package, just the base model. I was driving my SLK and he didn't want to run. He would have gotten smoked.
That's not nearly as bad as the VW Touareg I saw where someone took the VW logo off the back and put a Porsche Cayenne S badge on there. Too bad he still had the VW rims.

nope, it was a regular Z4.
I thought so too, but then I went with my gut feeling... 125mph (200 kph) was way faster than any speed I'd ever driven before...

Why not? WOT you'd be at 140 in 4 seconds. You can smoke a Z4 3.0i without any effort. I'd WOT then time the hard brake at the corner, then take the corner hard. It'll show the BMW what's up.
