CLS63030vsZ06



This time it was clear as day I peak over and in the left lane is a pewter Z06, it actually said Z06 on the side of the car. I had watched the other yellow Z06 run an 11.9@118 and was not feeling good about this matchup. Pull up to the tree and reel off a .038 reaction time jumping out on the Z06. I am ahead at 60 ft , 330 ft and 1/8th , he starts pulling but guess what race ends and the 63 holds off the lighter and equally powered vehicle. I know the Z06 drivers have to be pissed they are losing to 4 door 4500 lb cars. I shattered my previous best tonight and managed some incredible 60 ft times with my new pilot sport cups. The Z06 had the race continued would have rushed past but , he ran out of room. Oh the horror! So I am 2-0 racing the car that is faster than the SLR, LOL.
That 60' time for the Z06 is horrible,you killed him out of the hole.Not really an easy car to launch super hard.Any vehicle that can put 30mph+ on the back half is moving,he gained almost 27mph



Yeah no question , the car would have an easy time passing me from a fwy roll. Too bad we were on a track! How frustrating that must be to know you are faster and not be able to beat a HEAVY Sedan, oh I mean HEAVY 4 door coupe. My 60 ft was not great but my reaction time slaughtered him!!!

Gotta get the jump when racing a faster car. I think it would be unfair to expect the CLS to keep up with a Z06 when the difference in weight is so drastic.

As much as that 112 trap is, it's still low for a C6 Z06, so I would venture to guess it was a C5 version? I've seen those run in the 13's with inexperienced drivers. But a win is a win, enjoy and congrats!

Your Z06 would likely do a 13.5-13.6 at LACR. Do you guys even read. The Corvette drivers dial their own times. THEY ALL CHOOSE between 13.4-13.7 on this track , why? Because that is what they run. You run what you run. The Z06 at this track is a 13.5 car end of story. Show me , and I will report differently. Racing on the dragstrip is far more technical than rolling down an abandoned airstrip!! Someone with a stock Z06 who has recorded a time at LACR under 13.0 please tell me bout it.

I could care less if the guy out traps me, it means nothing. What matters is reaction time and the 60ft. You beat any car there and you are likely headed to victory. I dont care if your racing a 1000hp Mustang , you beat him by a half second on the reaction time it puts alot of pressure on him. Last night I made it to the bracket racing final, PRO TROPHY. I lost to a 1970 station wagon running 18.70 1/4 mile. How did I lose? Well he dialed a near perfect light, I had to spot him 4 seconds and I panicked and moved out to quickly. Disqualified. I had done the same thing the wagon did to me to my previous 4 opponets. A good light wins most drag races, the Z06 is not fast enough to make up for a bad light period. It happens over and over again at LACR. There is one Z06 that runs 11.9 seconds @120 plus but he is on the bottle !
The Vette drivers are very cool and also frustrated but they run what they run and I do not think the guys want to risk breaking out so they keep the dial times at 13.5 and above to prevent having to stress over the perfect launch etc.. For the record I have not lost to a Z06, nor do I claim my car is faster. I only post the timeslip because it once again demonstrates the difficulty of the track and how cars under EQUAL CONDITIONS perform.

It could of been a C5. It said Z06 but how do you tell C5 vs C6?

And in Rear tyres(Pilot Sport) 35psi ( No Slicks)
Full Fuel tank
And Awfull surface....like airstrip....
Outside Temp -100F(was very hot)

But on a good tarmac my 0-186mph 25ces

That day,Turbo BMW3 3L with GT35 650hp without interior,on race fuel,on slicks ran 12.2....

Man i repeat,it was awfull surface!
On a drag strip and on slicks it runs 10.3-10.5@130+
On a drag strip CGT made 12.1 then what? Nothing...Its not drag cars
+I dont care about 1/4 mile...
