Fun with a Carerra4S

Don’t know if it is anyone on this forum or if anyone knows him but as I was driving home last night from SF I heard a very nice sounding down shift. I look over and see a younger guy in a Porsche Carerra4S then he guns it getting on the freeway so I get over so we are only a lane apart from him I wait till he catches me then we both get on it. I may have gotten the jump on him to begin with but I was ahead the whole time wasn’t really pulling on him more like a very slow walk but I would say I had him about half a car or more we had to cut it around 100 due to traffic very short but a fun race. The guy was very nice we waved to each other and went our separate ways. Would love to run again in different scenarios he’s one of the only people I met around here that likes a friendly run everyone else seems to have a stick up there ***.

Hey I just had a similar "kill"...

I was pretty sure it would be even or faster than my car, but I had the same result as yours.

I thought i read somewhere that they are pretty fast and that it would give the SLK55 a run for its money...

If it's the new 997 Carrera4S...we've got comparable weight, probs between the SLK and the C, awd, an engine that produces almost the same amount of power, and sometimes a manual transmission, which is either a bonus or a negative, depending on driver.

Like I said, I didn't think I would win. *shrug*

The C55&SLK55 have a huge torque advantage over the C4S too

996 C4, previously owned 996 c2, c32 amg, 350z, R33 GTR, R34 GTR
I raced a 55 with my c2 3.6 a while back from a start, we were close he got a good start and pulled 2 car lengths but by 80 I was starting to catch. We shut down at 100 with me just behind. The SLk has better acceleration due to better torque but the p-cars are very fast above 100 and will hang with many more powerful cars at these speeds.

Good run anyway
