C350 vs. G35
What a classic match-up. Coming home from work today I finally got a chance to pit my new Speed Innovation ECU tune-up on my '06 C350 Sport (7G-Tronic) against a comparable car. I got into it at a light with a new G35 Sport sedan (not the Coupé). We were next to each other and he lurched out hard (it was their 6MT manual I guess) when the light turned so I went for it. I think he wanted to be over in my lane or something. I kinda felt bad for smoking him when I realized that afterwards. Anyway, he was about a half car ahead when I stood on it (my nose was next to his back door). By the time I hit second I was side-by-side, and before I was half way through second the tables were turned and his nose was even with my back door. I wasn't sure what might happen because I've read a lot about their big 306hp V6. Car and Driver tested it at 5.2 seconds 0-60 and 13.9 @ 103 in the 1/4 mile. I really think that SI tuning has knocked .2 or more like .3 seconds 0-60 off of my C-Class and added several mph to the virtual "trap speed". Not bad!

Sweet Kill. Those Car & Driver times of 6MT cars is difficult to replicate on the street.
I'd like to run a C350 some day. I'd bet it'd be very close.

Nice kill. Those Infiniti G35 Sedans are really annoying. Every joe blow has one around here and they all think they are driving a 4-door CLK. haha
I love lighting those POS cars up. Glad you got the jump on him in 2nd.

1984 Corolla (sold) 1989 BMW (sold) 1988 Conquest (sold) 1991 CRX (sold) 1994 M3 (sold)..Silly yet?
Sounds like a classic case of a one car race. I think he may have just given it a little gas to try and get over, then realized he was dealing with fast and the furious, and just opted to get behind you?

To get that kind of speed the driver needs to launch the car and drop the clutch. Seriously, at a stop light automatic cars will have an edge if the performance numbers are similar.

07 CLS 63 09 GL550, 98 Honda Prelude, 08 Honda Civic...yes too many cars
Why does everyone knock g35's around here, I personally think that as well as the Z are gorgeous cars, I think they have gotten too common which is why I wouldnt buy one, but you cant take away from the beauty of those cars. The 90-9? Z was my dream car in high school, I was always envious of the people that had one. And top carbon, whenever I see the pic below your name it always cracks me up, by the way the diablo was one of the nicest lambos ever made, I had a chance to sit in one when I was younger in vegas(they woulnt let me drive it) but just sitting in one made me feel like the ****.

I like the 350 and the G35. Nice entry level sports cars. You get what you pay for. For under $30,000, its a nice solid car. Its not the fastest car, but it has enough sportiness for the price. Its not a Fiero, nor is it a Murci.
Thanks DjQuix, the Diablo is as raw as you will find in a car. Not much but a bunch of leather and V12 wrapped in a hand made body. But for all it doesnt have (abs, power stearing, traction control), I love it.

All I've been hearing from my son is trading his range rover for a 91-95 Diablo for graduation.
Hate to hijack the thread, so could you PM me sort of like a review of owning one? thanks.

E55 and it was a great car for the money. I purchased it from the Infinity dealer that's directly across the street from the MB dealer after they sold the E55 I had on order to someone else. Walked right across the street and wrote a check on the spot. Drove it for two years before finally getting over it and going back to MB for the E55. The G35 is a lot of car for the money.

I came up to a custom modified G35 with exhaust and probably a K/N air filter kit.
Came up to a red light with a modified G35 today, he had a custom exhaust and probably a K/N air filter. He kept revving up his engine so I put my C350 in Sport mode and we went at it. I had him off the line immediately by a car length, and it only got worse by 3rd gear, I was 2-3 car lengths ahead of him. By 110mph I was 3 car lengths ahead of him taking over his lane. I kinda knew he had no chance, but I was laughing at him so badly at the next light he turned left and took his Japanese beater home. BTW I have the 4Matic version of the C350, this car is a sleeper, so glad I bought it.

2013 C350 4matic sport coupe
Smoked a G37 in my 2013 C350 4-matic
So I see these Z350’s G35/G37 all over my area, they throw on hideous sounding exhaust and a K/N air filter and tints and they think their good enough for Street Outlaws.....
So I finally got my chance last week on a G37, we just got lucky with us both getting pole position at a light. I knew I could easily smoke this guy but let him have his chance. Took him out of the whole by a ton maybe car and a half, since I have AWD I never have to worry about wheel spin. I couldn’t believe by 113mph I had 3.5 cars on him. We all know how heavy MB cars are due to all the sound denting material and ridiculously extra exhaust components on my car, It has 2 resonators, 2 catalytic converters, 2 huge mufflers, plus MB used actual metal on their cars and not plastic. Now I know my car runs 14.0 flats in the Quarter mile and 5.3 in 0-60. I do remember hearing that German cars hp is rated by a different system than SAE American/jap crap. Has anyone else heard that Mercedes Benz, BMW and Audi do not test hp by the flywheel? That would explain the huge smoke job I put on this G37. My car is rated at 302hp/280 ft lbs of torque. I know automatics take 40 horse right off the bat, so I’m a bit confused that a manual jap race coupe couldn’t even keep up with a automatic luxury car?!?!
