I got a called from some friends about a guy wantng to run an old dodge duster against mu E55 4 no less than a $1000....so i accepted the challenge.This guy lives about 45 mins away,and asked that we meet up at a local car wash before we raced.When i got there my motor was hot from running my car hard,so i asked to have my car cooled off before i did the run.....I opened the hood to expedite the cooling,and everyone came over to take a look.After the looked they decided to raise the pot to about $4000 dollars especially after i told them that it was my wife's car.However after looking on their car i decided to run for $2000....i must admit that i was a little scared,b/c this was one big mopar motor with a big cam,big 4 barrel carbs stroker crank,head n valve job,not to mention slicks.He did an impressive burnout from hell,and the crowd went wild,especially when they looked at what they were about to run......after the burn out they came over to up the pot which i took for another $500 dollars....now it was my turn to heat my tires....well any of you with a Kleeman stg4 know how impressive a burnout an e55 does with the t/c off....there was so much smoke the car was was invisable,but i did not get a cheer from the crowd,only worried faces.I backed up to the line,we both staged up and the flag man dropped his hand,the Duster beat me out the gate (thank god)because i forget to put my traction control back on....well u know the rest...my car was all over the road .Anyhow the Duster missed 2nd gear and i pulled around him and won.I turned around and came back to the finish line,happy to have won,but blaming myself for leaving the t/c off.After they spoke among themselver they came back and congratulated me ,but said this time they wanted to do it for $5000 I obligh them by saying yes.......my friends was a little sceptical for me to run again,knowing that he missed 2nd gear,and i spinned excessively,but after i explained about the t/c that boosted their corage,and they were in.He wanted to make sure he won this time,so he went in his trunk and turn his NOS on,but one of my guy was around,and saw this and told us what he did.Well you know the saying ,when they sold NOS they sold more than one bottle,plus i had remote bottle opener.We staged up and took off together and i pulled him about a car,then i supposed he hit the gun,b/c he was suddenly next to me,and was slowly drifting by me,that then i shot my gun and put about 10 cars on him through the 1/4 mile. We came back to the starting line and they pay up...but could not believe that their local hero had fallen.There was another kid with a Nova from the same era as the Duster,but decided not to run after he saw the fate of the Duster.To tell the truth i was glad when he declined on running b/c i am not sure i could beat him.....Everyone was saying that i had to run in the 9's to have beaten that Duster,which is far from the truth...the Duster probably runs maybe high 10's,but my car works better in the street.

 

No suprise to me that the beast won. Congrats!

But watch what you say on the internet. There are eyes everywhere. When I first posted about my whole nitrous project and put up pics of my trunk in my sig, I had people I've never even seen before go "pop the trunk, I wanna see the bottle." Even some guy out in NJ who was driving a Z06 came up to me randomly and goes "hey, your car must be pretty quick with that wet shot....italianstallion." Word travels quick and since you're in it for the money and glory, be careful. I'm not making that mistake again. In fact, I'm keeping my mouth completely shut on my next car .

I have seen a few E55,around here.A couple ball players have some Kleemann upgrade,but they dont race them,or drive them hard.
A few years back a ball player was drag racing his Porsche and was killed,so i guess they are kind of hard on them in their contract.

 

No, I am in Columbia. Have seen one other E55 here that was white...and two E63s that were silver.
